What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

A Cat makes for a decent ole Barlow:

That Catt is something to behold, Primble!:thumbup:

Thank you Perry - It has surely been around the block a time or two. ;):D

Yes sir a Catt makes for a nice Barlow, but, it looks like a Dog chewed on the top of the clip blade! :eek: Or is it a Wharncliff? :eek::confused:

:D

Chewed up by a dog ??!! :eek::eek::eek::grumpy:

Those are character marks Mark - pun intended fer sure ! :grumpy::grumpy::D

The clip blade on the old Catt is actually pretty full. ;)

I do often wonder how some of the old knives which I have acquired lived out their life, to that point in time where they came into my possession. My vision of this old Catt Barlow is that it might very well have spent many years in an old metal tool box in an outdoor tool shed or something similar, after once being an everyday carry knife. :confused::confused::confused:

Not to worry - dry storage and smooth sailing from here on. ;):D

Shoot, must've not noticed it. You know that phenomenon where you never see something until you start thinking about it? Then you see it everywhere?

Oh, I sure know that phenomenon, Evan! Like EO teardrop jacks, or GEC 25s, or non-silver Vic Farmers, or chestnut bone CV swayback jacks, or 2-bladed 4-inch toothpicks, or EO sheep/pen #15 Scouts, or antique amber saw cut 2-bladed Charlows, or Beerlows, or …. :D:eek::D

That list just keeps growing doesn't it Gary?

It sure does, Bob. :(
Fortunately, my brain is too small to obsess over more than one knife at a time, and the object of my burning desire keeps changing depending on what photo I've seen most recently! :D:D
So, although I'm always lusting after a knife, it's only one at any given moment, and there's lots of variety, so I got that going for me! :thumbup:;)

That Catt is really cool looking!

Thank you ALLHSS. :thumbup::)

Finally got my black sheep in, after a loonnggg trip across high seas and rough weather. I think it fits right in with the other sheep. :)

It gives me at least one of each handle material of all the 3rd run sheep TC Barlows. ;) Baaaaaa !!! :D:D:D:D

Primble, that Ole Catt is stunning. You flock is growing so well, love the Black Sheep. Looks like mine minus some patina.

Lovely red bone Paul! I am happy to hear that your search for this one has ended happily.

Chris

Thank you for the comments guys. :thumbup::thumbup::)

Chris - that black sheep might end up with some forced patina, since the etch is missing. Undecided for now. ;):)

Great addition to your TC Barlow collection Paul - no bribes from me, as I have one too. :eek::D
