What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Brad, Paul, Sjostygg, and Drew - Thanks so much for the compliments on the FB Barlow.
It was pouring rain when I took a picture last night, so I took this one this morning.

Sjostygg - I used Fiebings dye on the stag. I mixed Mahogany and Light Brown to get the color I liked.

That shot from this morning looks so much better Mark. Between the stag coloring and the copper, you made a beautiful piece there. :thumbup:

+ 5K! :thumbup::thumbup:
That knife looks spectacular, and it must be incredibly gratifying that you "made it from scratch" yourself! :eek::cool::cool::eek:
Very impressive, Mark!!

That is an awesome knife, Mark! Of course, I get all squishy in the knees over a nice stag Barlow... And you had me just with the copper bolster!

I've never been into the spearpoint much. I favor the clip blade and sheepfoot. But I do have a couple of TC Barlows with spearpoint blades, and they make good, traditional Barlows.

As you can tell, I often carry the walnut. But the redbone, I am saving it for later...

Here are three nail nick and three long pull spears I have. From top: Red Blood Jigged Bone, Walnut, Copperhead SawCut Bone, Blackwood, Chestnut Jigged Bone & a 3rd Cut Bone

Very nice Scott and Lloyd! Course my favorite has to be that 3rd cut one you have, Lloyd! Wow:thumbup:

Thank you! I think my favorite of this group of spears is Lloyd's copperhead, although I like the 3rd cut and my rust red bone too...

Thanks Perry, Chisumr and Scott! I agree Scott I like your rust red bone--beautiful. I have been on the look-out for a rest red bone specimen but they sure don't come up for sale on the secondary market at least I haven't seen one and I look a lot. Of course I haven't seen many TCs I don't really like. Lloyd

Beautiful specimens Mark, Scott, Fred, and Lloyd !!! :thumbup::thumbup::)

Nice pen behind the main Roberto!
I am glad to see you back, I thought maybe those big Skeeter's carried you away! :eek:

Love the pen behind the main blade! If Charlie or GEC make it on a future knife, they can just have all my money.
