What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Congratulations Jake, a pair of beauties there for sure :) That's about as nice a spey blade as I've seen. Well done Charlie

Charlie, I am Stoked that the Marmalade mentioning still goes on - now who started all that was it before the peanut Butter and Marmite thing - I have a strong feeling Jack had something to do with it?

I think it was before the long peanut butter and Marmite discussion my friend! :D I asked Stan what he was having on his sandwiches the other week, and he told me with a smile and a twinkle in those old eyes - Marmalade! :D He's not seen the online discussion, but certainly got a kick out of hearing about it :)

You should post an image of the back-label here Charlie! ;) - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1106897-Interrupting-Stan-Shaw’s-Marmalade-Sandwich

Jake, you are a few miles closer to the source, but mine came in right after yours. Fastest delivery ever. What is up with the USPS?

Like Jake, hurried photo, Photobucket not responding well. So I'll need to get better photos when I have more time.

Impressions: Like Jake, I prefer single blades. But the pen-behind-main is awesome! The Evergreen is really, really dark, almost a greenish black. My single blade is a nail breaker. Probably just needs to be cleaned and oiled. The spey blade is very different from the original Days Work spey. Not only is it wider, but the spine is much thicker for the long pull. Great swedge! Not even worth comparing to the Days Work. Like apples and oranges to me. I like 'em both!

Beautiful and fascinating knife, Charlie! A great addition to your series, worthy of the TC stamp!

The impression I'm hit by is that the newer Spey is a whole lotta blade for such a small frame! Awesome!

I do like that particular Brand and choice of marmalade, Jack! And you are right - I think we went from Stan's Marmalade, to Duncan's Marmite and PB.
I have been trying Vegemite lately but don't like it as much as Marmite!

The front label is missing a detail! The final one has Green Eggs and Ham!

The labels just add to the appeal in my opinion. Charlie gives us a complete immersive package. :D Thanks Charlie.

Thanks for putting up the pictures, Jake and Scott, and for the great compliments, everyone!
Jack, Perry etc, etc!!
Many thanks!!

I'm liking the gradual reveal of these as person by person gets their New Day! Looking forward to more photos.

Mine are "in the mail." Tick, tick, tick.

That's exactly right, Perry! The thicker spine, the wider blade, make for a very stout and meaty blade in a very sleek, low profile package. It feels sturdier, up to bigger jobs, than a lot of GEC knives.

Thank you Charlie for doing another run. I was lucky enough (and quick with the typing) to grab a single blade with the green bone, and I'm very excited!
