What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Oh absolutly Perry, I understand it is a long shot each time. Really speaks to how much these knives are loved that they sell out so quickly. The positive side is it makes each and every one you do aquire that much more special.

I was fortunate enough to get a choice between the evergreen and the copperhead, and went for the copperhead. After studying the photos closely, I am not sure if this was the right decision! There is something about that green that is both attractive and unattractive (to me) at the same time. It's certainly an interesting variation and it might turn out to be the more collectible of the two.

I know that the next couple pages will be filled with the beautiful new run of TC Barlows, so I wanted to squeeze in momentarily and show you guys what just came in the mail. I won Mike Latham's Soup Bone Barlow GAW (MANY, MANY THANKS TO MIKE AND COLLECTORKNIVES!), and here it is...

Congratulations, that IS a beautiful knife.

I've been waiting for that comparison pic! Thanks Tenacious D!
Looks like I'll get a couple of knives to CF and CE later today.

Cool, low mileage dog groomer, Philllll!
I don't usually recommend oiling bone handles too much, but a bit of a soak might "fatten" them up under the rivets!?

Philllll, That is a terrific old IXL, a great find :)

Derek, That is a nice Joesph Rodgers you have there Down Under :)

Some great New Days being posted  Anxiously awaiting mine to arrive :D

I got my first New Day TC Barlow this morning and I am impressed. Perfect F&F, the African Blackwood is beautiful with subtle variations in color and the blade shape is just right for spreading marmalade!

Charlie and GEC knocked it out of the park on this one. Here's a couple photos to showcase the wood, etc.

That blackwood is all killer no filler Dean, the sunlight comparison photo really brings out and highlights how subtle yet nice the changes are.

Matches right with the tarnished box background Primble. I always enjoy the clarity and hdr/dynamic range of your photos.

Dean, it is looking good my friend  :)

Thanks, Ron. It's a keeper.

singin50 That's a beautiful TC, Dean!

Thanks, Perry.

Just what I was shooting for, Tim! :)

Another great photo, Primble. The copperhead looks great!

No New Day for me yet, so this one had to continue afternoon fruit snack duty. The orange peel never stood a chance. :D
