What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Ooooh, are you certain? My plan was not to leave the house till the mailman showed.:) Now I'm free, thanks for telling me.

This is a KUTMASTER Barlow I've admired for a couple years.:thumbup:

photo borrow from paulhilborn (hoping he doesn't mind);)

Paul- Right when I saw that 2 blade New Day TC in ebony I said "that's Paul" fantastic gift Duncan and Barry

Thank you Dave, like many here I'm a sucker for ebony:o:thumbup: the fact its a gift from Duncan makes it priceless;) Nice trio of TC' s my friend:cool:

Such a great thread, a pleasure to see such terrific Barlows old and new:thumbup:

I fear a hangover awaits EARL...party animal that he is:D

Thanks Dave. Your pick really brings out the nice coloring of the copperhead. Wish I could have afforded one of each. :D
Thanks Bob, I am really happy I got one:D

Thank you Dean and Dave :D A nice threesome there Dave
Thanks Ron, I never thought I would get a TC but now I own 3 and feel very fortunate

Having a night-cap with Earl ;)

Great photo, both nicely aged:thumbup:

Dave, I see your New Day has snuggled nicely in there with his jigged sheepfoot brothers. I like that copperhead.
Thanks Dean:D

Tomorrow (the postman) should bring me a New Day.:D
Which New Day I don't know. I'm expecting either a green bone or a black wood.... at this time it's still a mystery to me. (a long story)
I'm not even certain which one I want it to be. These pics have shown they're all gorgeous.
Bob with his black (green) bone, Half/Stop's and dave308ek's copperheads not to mention Barry's extra special group shot and Jack's beautiful Schrade. These pics are making the wait both better and yet more difficult at the same time. Is that even possible?
Anyways thanks guys for showin em, I know you meant well.... I'll try to be patient... and let you know which New Day shows up tomorrow :)
Good luck redsparrow,, I am sure you will love either one.

Thanks Paul, I don't know Duncan all that well but have seen nothing but amazing things from him on this forum. A truly special person for sure.

chisumr, the KUTMASTER posted above pushes quite a few of my barlow buttons. Color, spear and pen blade combo, condition, maker, etc. I've admired it from afar since paulhilborn posted it a couple years back, he's the fortunate keeper of the KUTMASTER. I just thought it deserved to be seen again. I hope Paul is still enjoying it!:thumbup:

Here's an identical copy of the first knife that I bought for myself.

I don't "get" a spey blade as the main blade on a Barlow. Makes no sense at all. Someone must be doing a lot of de-nuttin' or something

While I just don't understand the main spey blade, I can't deny those are indeed beautiful knives with superb craftsmanship. Nice

My spey just arrived and I really like the deep dark colors in the covers (which the setting sun really highlighted).

While the nail nick version of the spey was cool, it really wasn't my style. However, the long pull and the meatier blade just give this, dare I say it, a more contemporary appearance that really resonates with me. Great job Charlie once again!
