What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

This is my modest TC Collection in its entirety. I hope you enjoy them as
much as I do ;):)

The knives may be modest, but there's no reason for you to be-- that's a beautiful array! :)

I have a devil of a time with group knife shots, the arranging thereof and the focus therein. Very nicely done.

Hopefully, I'll see you and your knives soon.

Please, if possible post a group photo... For those who can't make it can at least put a face to a name! Thanks and have fun at the rendezvous. I am awaiting Sarah's report. :-)

I hate it when this thread disappears off the front page. Here's a pic of one of my two New Day's gifted to me by the Patriarch of Barlows! ;)

When are the Ancients headed out to the door to the dealers? GEC site seemed to indicate they were done last Thurs or so.

That's a question for the dealers, best asked via email. This forum is for discussing the knives. Thanks.

Nice Tim, got this one in my pocket today, courtesy of PMEW :)

Got a mystery package in the mail today from Jackson. Shenanagins from Markesharp - again ! A wonderful old Robeson Barlow and a Kabar Barlow. According to Goins, these Barlows date from the 1929-1940 eras. The note said "Thought these two would make a nice addition to your Barlow collection." Beautiful bone on both of these. Thank you my friend ! Fabulous knives ! :):thumbup:

The Kabarlo reminds me of soup bone.

Wow!! Primbs....those two are just beauties!!!! well done to you both Guys!!!

I was sitting around this beautiful Sunday morning drinking coffee. My wife and I were discussing our packing for the
Rendezvous Trip and I told her that I was going to oil and secure all these knives that I have laying around the house
before we leave. Then something happened, I had an idea for a photo shot in the morning light. The resulting photo is
one that I have named the TC Rendezvous. This is my modest TC Collection in its entirety. I hope you enjoy them as
much as I do ;):)

Oh Man...Half stop - yes I AM ENJOYING viewing that great collection - well done my friend-thats a great group right there!!

What makes a good, traditional barlow?
Out of all the knives I have accumulated in my journey through life, this one has some magic in it. I don't know what it is about it. I was always a two-blade jack kind of guy, and prior to that I was a swiss army guy. But this single blade sheepsfoot barlow in african blackwood just sang to me when I first saw it on GEC's homepage. I had a few Boy's Knives from the original run and loved them but this guy? Only one blade? And a sheepfoot at that?
Preposterous. Madness, I tell you!
But I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with these TC Barlows. So I ordered one.
Every time I pull it out of my pocket, it makes me smile.
Every clamshell package I slay, every letter I open, every lime I slice for gimlets--
It harkens back to a time before I was born. A time I never knew. But a time I hold a piece of in my hand each time I carry this knife.

Priceless! Charlie and all involved have really knocked it out of the park with every aspect of these new Ancient Barlows.
