What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Charlie and GEC make some nice barlows, that's for darn sure! :D

Just beautiful! I love the way they are presented as well. :)

Great job on your Ancient TC's Charlie! I sat down and snacked on cheese and crackers last night and this blade really cut's the cheese! Seriously, I LOVE this blade! Well done! :D

That's my brother right there:D I seriously pay Nanc compliments daily but things somehow get lost in translation...I know now for a certainty we are brothers:D:D:D

Beautiful Ancient Marcus:thumbup:

As usual, the mailman is late on the day I'm expecting knives. My trifecta of ancient barlows is on a truck somewhere near me!

Rode back to my old home just to pick this up in the post. Couldn't resist taking a photo of the scale left on the bolsters before I went back.

I love the hammered pins!! Mine should be here tomorrow, actually I see its at the local PO but I'm at work and can't go get it. Oh well. I have the Ebony in the pocket to tide me over!

Today was a welcome, if temporary, reprieve from the record highs we have endured recently (e.g. a few days ago: 109° on the back porch and 116° on the front porch). This morning, it was only 82° and there was a promise of Autumn on the breeze and in the leaves.

The arrival of this beauty dotted the day with an exclamation point.

From the scratted bone handles to the hammered pins to the distressed bolsters and blade stamped with the mark of an icon in the traditional knife world, it is its own mini-history lesson. And I doubt its mechanics and fit and finish could easily be improved upon... at any price. An exceptional example of craftsmanship and class... a reflection of its makers and its visionary.

I like it! ;)

Scratted Parchment Bone arrived today. Hoping to add an Ebony and Parchment bone to complete the trio! These are up there with my favorite TC's ever -- bravo to all involved.

With my main computer down again, I cannot post pics for a while (again!!!)

Thank you all for the pics, kind words, and celebration of this latest Barlow!!

And thanks to all the beautiful souls at GEC, without whom this wouldn't be possible!

Beside all the great people who visited Titusville, I just spent a long weekend with the greatest knife makers now in existence!! And some of their families!!

For a knife guy, it does not get better!! I am humbled.
