What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Nah, you're right. But Huck is more fun, and while the image is incorrect for the sentiment, I expect it is their friendship that is important here (not Ben's).

Good catch! But I believe the apropos term is "artistic license".

I'm only even being nit-picky because I teach the book year after year. One of the reasons I love these knives so much is that Tom Sawyer is such a part of my life. I gave my teaching partner a 3rd-cut stag last summer and he carries it every day.

You are most Welcome Ronnie! It was my pleasure!!;)
At some future date I will have to re-shoot the Brazilian Rosewood. They are simply to Beautiful to let the current pics stand. ;)

Great to see you posting again Dave, this must mean you have a short spell off work - thats good my friend, I loved going through the releases of Charlie through your knives,LOVE your Scratted Bone!!!!

I am not too sure if anyone else thinks so - but I am just head over heels with the singular TC on the blade - thats just awesome! - One day I will come across one of those and pounce!
Well. mixed emotions looking at this Dave- Great to see your knives - sad to see on just how many I've missed out on.

Heh! You must be appalled at my fairly regular artistic ignor.........errrrrr ummm, license! Yeah, that's it, license!:o

It's nice to hear that those tales are still being taught, Gus! Young people are fortunate to have those stories in their lives - for so many reasons!

That is a great connection and reason for collecting TC Barlows! I've been admiring your collection.

With the stuff I taught, I'd be collecting military weapons and running from the Feds. (I was an instructor for the U.S. Dept. of Defense).

That really is an amazing shot with the crucibles and your wonderful Ancient, Jack!!!!

Thanks Gev, very kind of you to say my friend  It was taken on a visit to Joshua Tyzack's old scythe works yesterday. I am hoping to post some further pics later if Photoshop will permit!

The original TC Barlow, IMHO, was the best of breed, with their long pull spear blade with a swedge...need to bring that one back, along with a greater or different selection of cover materials, such as in Tru Ivory, American black walnut, Black Ebony: (Diospyros crassiflora), etc.
