What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Bob Cargill used to make a medium Daddy Barlow less than 5" long - about 4 1/2" actually.

This might be from before he formed the Cripple Creek company. He made knives in an odd mix of custom/semi-production. Nice knives, he did a lot of club knives I believe. Maybe somebody here knows more of the story???

Robb, that is a great Trinacria!!:D

very nice! just such an interesting name, daddy barlow, grand daddy barlow. thanks!

There it is 600 pages......here's to the next 600. Fantastic going for one knife pattern. Keep those Barlow's coming.

Added a couple of new aquisitions to the Barlow collection after cleaning them up today. Not too bad of a group with the oldest made about 1910.

Whaaaaaaa?

Whoooooaaaaahhhhh!!

That's amazing! Quite a collection. All users?

Very very nice indeed!!

Yup, I use and carry them all, even the hen's teeth ones. The TC is just my perfect knife! Have one on me every day and have been especially fortunate in what I've managed to find.

Too cool.

Any favorites in the group, or do they get equal love and/or pocket time?

I especially like long-pull spears. My favorites are the single LPS Soupbone and my number one is the pen-behind red Sawcut

Having said that, I really like this year's New Day; F&F are amazing. Managed to score a Soupbone variety and love the peachseed copper. Double Stew's is also a joy to carry.

I agree-long pull is where it's at for me, too.

Although I usually prefer a clippoint to a spearpoint, the TC spears are nice and pointy. I'll have to give them another look.

That red Sawcut is really vintage looking. Congrats on that one, and the entire collection!

I try to rotate equally, but a couple call my name louder than others. There are guys in here that put my collection to shame, however.

i think i just broke my first $1000 or must be about $1150 on gecs. i think i count 19-20 there in that picture so good on ya! easily around $2k, so must be doing pretty good!

I know it was not made for Charlie, so it's authenticity as a genuine TC is questionable, but I have been looking at which TCs I will and won't sell and the 2014 Rendezvous knife ended up in the won't sell section. I think I'll carry it tomorrow. What a beautiful, historic knife, with the Stew's blade and the Oil Sucker Rod scales. I really appreciate the resurgence of good barlows, and this thread is a great banner for that resurgence.

Post a pic, please!

This one. Charlie gave Bill permission to use the TC bolster stamp on 30 2014 rendezvous knives. I believe one or two extra were made. They are not Charlie-commissioned TC Barlows, but bear the stamp, nonetheless.

Mine is #30. ;) :D
