Thanks TsarBomba, Atiger and Charlie for your nice comments on my vintage Barlows! Much appreciated, Lloyd

Charlie, from a different thread - STUNNING knife, but is this mislabeled, or is this all we can expect for "ragg bone?"

I asked about the Ragg Bone. A lot of the raw edges nearly disappeared during finishing. We will have to see more of them, to see how well our experiment worked. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
This is the first attempt to "Ragg 'em" intentionally, as far as anyone knows!
Please post them when you get them my friends!!

Sorry, Charlie. Those Ragg Bones are a failure, send them to me, and I'll properly dispose of them before they tarnish your reputation. :p
:D

Seriously, beautiful knives! I hope to pick one up next time. Are you planning on a clip/pen blade version at some point?

I sincerely hope I receive a Ragg Bone chock full of "intentional Ragg 'em". Here's to your experiment turning out well.

Charlie I don't think Rachel has the technology to properly dispose of them so I will be happy to send you my shipping info just to help out. :D

Seriously though I would really like to buy a two blade model and I'm a little confused Charlie are they available yet?

As a form of protest against the ridicu-dumb manner in which GEC and certain dealers have gone about issuing the #14 Barlows (see W&C for my true feelings about this), I feel the need to spam this thread with a few examples showing that you don't need fanatical cultism over manufacturers to enjoy a Barlow.

Anyone who wants me to go into more depth over this Charlie Foxtrot can feel free to send me an email through the site.

Some of the bone Barlows from my recent Grand Barlow Tour of the Far East:

Got more to post at some point but I need to get them off the iPad.

Way to go TsarBomba! It needed to be said! Thank you for that as I'm right there with ya! Give me a good CASE knife any day.

Nice Barlows by the way.

TC Barlows are wonderfully made examples of the pattern, and I wish everyone who wants them could get them, but there is definitely more demand than supply. But take solace in the fact there are some lovely old Barlows to be found: My favorites:

Your 493 reminded me: I've got a 492 (same knife with a spear master) and a Wiss (I believe identical to your 493, just differently-branded) coming in. I don't want to risk the ire of the dealer by using his photos, but I will be sure to post them here when I receive them.

I can't imagine your Keen Kutter was manufactured with a secondary Wharncliffe but it sure seems to have worked out that way. Nice Barlows!

I agree - T/C Barlows are beautiful and likely to be tomorrow's classics but there is as much to admire and enjoy in today's classic old barlows as well.

Some favorites of mine...
