I'm quite excited, so your going to see this photo in a few threads....

Beautiful knife, LastRodeo! (I don't even think mine has shipped yet! :() I really like the long pull that extends to the tang, a unique little detail that sets this one apart!

Thanks for posting that nice picture, LastRodeo!
Nice to see the Barlows getting out into people's hands!
Bill did a great job on them! More pics please!! Everyone!!

Awesome stuff folks- Augie my friend, Those Barlows are simply stuuuuunnnnning!, Spey Barlow- and near Mint

Charlie, Congrats to you and your team on another winner - nice choice( pun intended :) ) for a single option scale too

Welcome back to the Toms choice etch I say!

That new TC looks amazing!

Something New, Something Old...

A couple of weekends ago, I took up a gracious invitation from fellow Porch forumite, 1500international to visit and have a look at his outstanding collection of traditional knives.

Here are a few of his classic Barlow Bunny knives (and one short bolstered Rodgers sibling - both the long and short bolstered teardrop jacks can be termed Bunny knives in Australia).

(Sorry, my photo quality's not the best, and yes, I need to use a plainer background than the tenugui which is usually in my pocket.)

A Mosley.

Classic Taylors Eye Witness

If we're splitting hairs, this TEW would more properly be termed a Stock knife, due to the castrator blade.

A German J. Dirlam and Sons with '"Bunny" Knife' blade stamp.

Close up of the stepped bolster, and note the long pull extending all the way to the tang.

Another German made Bunny knife - tangstamp Ernst. I'm unfamiliar with this maker, to be honest. The mark is a winged crown - I think that may indicate contract manufacture by Friedrich Olbertz of Solingen, perhaps?

I'll post close ups of the Rodgers short bolstered Bunny Knife in the Old Knives thread, shortly, as it's not a true Barlow.

Thank you Charlie. I know you made an extra effort to get them into as many pockets as possible and we appreciate that and you.

Wow, Wow, Wow Charlie! I don't know what to say, all with full blades, just beautiful, that is one great addition to your collection, congratulations!

Thanks, John! I knew you'd like them. A friend was asked to disperse an estate collection for a family. He was happy to sell the Barlows in a group. Here are the final three:

Can anyone date the Shapleigh stamped example?

One more knife came with the group - a non-Barlow Remington. I will post it here for the sake of completeness;

A beautiful group of Barlows and a non-Barlow, Charlie. The Remingtons really grabbed my attention.

I know what you mean, Dean! I have a Remington Collector friend near here.
I can feel the bow-wave as he comes roaring over here!!

Oh my, that's a fine bunch of Barlows. The different shades of caramel bone are gorgeous. Congratulations. :)

I have a question about the Empire. I came across an ebony Empire Barlow, but mine has a nail nick rather than the long pull. Could this be a clue as to dates of manufacture? I used to assume that nail nicks were a newer style, but after thinking about it, I'm not sure just where I came to that idea. Maybe the long pull was a fancier option?

Lord have mercy, Charlie  The Gardner ..that Shapleigh...the Miller Bros...the ( I'm hyper ventilating  ) Thanks for the look...wow..wow!!

Glad you like the Barlow Bunch, Rachel - I'm pretty proud and happy!
Can you post a better picture of the tang stamp on your Empire? I have put the age question to an Empire expert in Winsted!

I can relate, Gev!! I tried to talk calmly to my friend, while my heart was leaping about my chest!!
I am slightly calmer now, as I hope you are!! There are indeed some nuggets in there!

I can only imagine the adrenaline rush that must have been coursing through your body. I am calmer but I'm sure there will be dancing barlows in my dreams with the one with a "G" stamp doing moves like Mikhail Baryshnikov..lol
