What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I have to say that the more I've researched the history of the Barlow cutlers, the more I've realised that the stuff published in various books about the family and the knife is little more than rubbish, with no independent research behind it, simply one writer repeating the errors he has read in other similar books

It's frustrating that knife books often don't have footnotes/references that are standard in other nonfiction writing.

Yes indeed, and even those that do often only have references to other knife books!

Just in for me

That's a beauty Mrknife! The photos showed some with more gold, and some with more "natural" tones - at least how my eyes saw it. I really like how yours turned out with the lighter scales at the bolster.

What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

This one makes a GREAT and Very Special, Traditional Barlow.

First off, it's a gift from my very good friend Mister Duncan Morgan:thumbup:

Designed and brought to life from Mister Charlie Campagna:thumbup:

Then hand Checkered by the skilled Artisan hands of Mister Evan Nicolaides aka ESNYX:thumbup: STUNNING skill Evan:cool::thumbup:

Gifted by Duncan, this wonderful TC Barlow of Charlies creation using Gun Stock Walnut of his Fathers, then so appropriately Checkered as fine Guns/Rifles are by Evan, is like hitting the Barlow Trifecta:cool:

It is sharp (in so many ways) and will be carried on Special Occasions;)

Thank you Duncan, Charlie and Evan for each playing a significant role is this TC Barlow coming to be...THANK YOU:thumbup:

Bob, the actual one Duncan bought from Evan is here in the North Dakota warehouse waiting for a green light to ship:D

Duncan, gifted me this TC when they first came out. Then after seeing first hand how stunning the one Duncan bought from Evan I contacted Evan and inquired if he'd do the same checkering on my Gun-stock Walnut one.

Evan graciously said "Absolutely" so I sent it his way. It actually arrived in the mail yesterday, normally no Sunday mail but after checking the tracking number it said it arrived in my mailbox!!! Threw on my boots and retrieved IMMEDIATELY:p

I could hold that other STUNNING Barlow of Duncan's hostage just to be mean:D

Paul you said it... that is truly the "Trifecta of Barlows"!!!
Great design, wonderful checkering, fantastic friends!!! My, My, My, I'm happy for you!!!

There are not enough words to describe that one Paul . Thanks for letting us see it . It was a pleasure my friend .
Be safe up there !!!!

Harry
