What pattern would you like to see in 2016 as the Trad Forum Knife

I really like that modified gunstock (I did not want to repost that image for 10th time). Maybe a flat head instead of punch, but the rest looks really nice. I can imagine getting 3+ of those :)

There was some interest in European made knife - what about some collaboration with Rober Klaas? Here are links to his standard knives and damascus knives. He actually did many more pattern in damascus steel (always from Balbach, most of it carbon damascus, but I have seen also some stainless ones). If you want to get an idea just google "klaas damast messer" and have a look at the photos.

I suppose that a Damascus blade would be on the pricey side - even with an edition of some 300 pieces it would hardly be less than 200€, but his 'standard' knives are less than half as much, so could be OK.

If you want to get an idea have a look here (MODS: link posted JUST for photos since the maker's webpage is rather poor, I am not trying to advertise for the shop and earn myself an infraction - I kindly ask for an exception).

As for the coffin jack and sowbelly, personally I really like Queen's frames for both patterns.
But then...who knows how hard it would be to get a SFO from Opinel, Mora or Victorinox...

Victorinox does SFO's all the time! Now THAT'S different - a BladeForums alox SAK!!:thumbup:

A to-order-made VIC would be an interesting option, but I guess we would never agree on the selection of tools :p

You guys have officially made my week!!!

When I first came up with the idea and name for the PunchNut or GunPunch/magnum punch (peanut and gunstock respectively) and suggested it here four or so years ago, I never thought it would gain any momentum, because I'm weird and don't usually like what the majority does.

Of course I want the WharnKris PunchNut, a wharncliffe blade with punch, but I first threw out the idea of a clip as I know it's more popular. On a gunstock, the punch can ride the frame and negate the complaints associated with a multi blade gunstock- letting the frame cut out be utilized.

The original knife to bring the idea to mind- small scalpel blade with scraping/boring/prying tool. I bought it for $0.50 at a garage sale, and have only stopped carrying it when the spring finally let go. Sadly it's the only small punch knife I've come across.

I think a small knife in this size would be s nice compliment for the forum knives which are usually bigger, and may allow more options for our money. Snakewood/koa type scales would send me off!!

I am very happy that this idea is catching on, which is why I've shamelessly punched it for so long!!

PunchNut!!! PunchNut!!! PunchNut!!!!

(I could also really get behind a eureka whittler, or secondarily an eureka stockman.

CLK : love both sketches and agree with either design. get ahold of a good modder to see if you can get that wharnie-punch fixed-it's too sweet not to work! thanks, Neal

I'm liking that sowbelly whittler patter Supratentorial posted above. The "punchnut" is a nice idea as well. Then a special edition 92 wharncliffe talon would be pretty cool with a pen secondary on the back side would probably get me to scratching for some cash. I love blood red jigged bone and smooth ivory bone covers.

Opi and Victorinox would be more than happy to do it. They have special depts for that.

This is not a problem, you can change the handle yourself very easily. Would just have to order special Forum script ones!

I like the idea of using either the 92 eureka (i'd be happy with a BF talon) or the 38 pattern (maybe whittler or a half whit)

How about a Logger Jack? I'm seeing it at about 4 1/2 inches closed, weighing in at about 8 oz., and made in 154CPM with stainless frame and hardware and red linen micarta scales... for under a $100 of course!

BUT, since this is all talk, don't you think y'all are puttin' the cart ahead of the horse?

That's pretty funny! The reality is, I'd still be in for a couple just because it's the forum knife!!

But, since we're dreaming here:rolleyes:....this is what I sketched up last year. Gunstock with a combo punch/cap lifter. I still like the idea.

I would love if this knife was made.

Whoa. Would it even be possible to do a number 6 opinel with their lock and 2 blades like a spear and wharncliffe?

Wow, I LOVE that pattern. That would certainly count as a dream pattern for me... though that price point seems like the part that is most fantasy.

And yes, the whole point of this thread is to fantasize and put whole trains of carts in front of imaginary horses. I might not be able to make a forum knife a reality, but I CAN spend months fantasizing about knives.
