Good question? I get a railway whistle but postal worker? Enlighten us please? 😊
Ha ha ha you could play a joke on your fellow postal worker and give him one of those dog whistles! You know how much dogs love the postman?

In the pocket.
Where can you find one for purchase? I’m interested in that for pocket carry of less layered SAK’s i don’t carry as i don’t want the scales all scratched up.
I have some leather i could probably make my own pouch but my leather work is crude yet purpose driven.

Haven’t figured out the whole sewing thing yet. The leather was free as i live in what used to be the furniture capital of the world.

M Murphy Slaw and David Nowlin David Nowlin its sad you never heard the postie blow his whistle signifying his mail delivery. The postie's whistle was a nostalgic sound of Australian mail delivery. It stopped in the 80s. In England in the early days (1906 whistle use started) the mailman picked up mail from your home as well as sold stamps on his routes so a blast of his whistle was an easy way to let you know he was at your mailbox.

Below beside my 91mm Tinker is the model of whistle used by aussie posties post world war 2, the AUSSIE whistle (manufactured 1947). Later replaced by the very similar AUSSIE THRILLER

I hope this helps fellas

Why did they need a whistle?

I’ve never needed a whistle and I’m pretty old…
I’ve been carrying a brass whistle for about 3 years as a safety device. The sound of a good whistle will carry farther than a human holler in the unlikely event that I fall down a hole or crevice and need to call out for help.

I consider it similar to a fire extinguisher. I hope I never have to use it but I want it there if I do.

Learn something new everyday! Guess i need a whistle on my key chain incase i can’t reach my gun to summon help! Lol. Plus a gun is a little heavy on my keychain.
Seriously all kidding aside i think thats an excellent idea really. Now what whistle to get? One like a referees whistle or one like a musical instrument?

That is very interesting. Certainly not something you see everyday day. What year do you think it was made? Any history on it you know about this?
