What to do if your spouse hates knives?

Dear Sirs:

Last year I upgraded Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new
program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and
valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the
product brochure. In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other
programs and launches during system initialization where it monitors
all other system activity. Applications such as Pokernight 10.3 and
Beerbash 2.5 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I
cannot seem to purge Wife 1.0 from my system. I am thinking about going back
to Girlfriend 1.0 but un-install does not work on this program. Can you
help me?

Dear Sir:
This is a very common problem men complain about but is mostly due to a
primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife
1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a "UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT"
program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and designed by its creator to
run everything. It is impossible to un-install, delete, or purge the
program from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 1.0
because Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this. Some have tried to install
Girlfriend 2.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than original
system. Look in your manual under Warnings Alimony / Child Support. I
recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and just deal with the situation. Having Wife
1.0 installed myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section
regarding General Protection Faults (GPFs). You must assume all
responsibility for faults and problems that might occur. The best course
of action will be to push apologize button then reset button as soon as
lockup occurs. System will run smooth as long as you take the blame for
all GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program but is very high maintenance.

Tech Support

Dear Sir:

Reformatting works on all Wife 1.0 programs. You can then install an upgrade after careful perusal of all available programs. Your choice must be made with an eye to installation and compatibility with your other choices of entertainment software such as pokernight 10.3 and knifenuttery 2.0. However running beerbash 2.5 often(parameter: nightly) is seldom compatible with the high quality software that you may want to keep for it's lifetime warranty. Running beerbash 2.5 often is mostly compatible with versions of wife programs that are undesirable or unreliable long term software .

And can you all please stop blaming it on foreigners, there is too much of that going on already :) my gf from the netherlands has no problem whatsoever with it.

I don't think it's the issue really. ;)

It doesn't matter were they are from if they have control issues and if the MIL is involved in it. The woman could be from any country and any state or town in the US.

What matters is how they were raised and who there friends were growing up etc. The Parents and friends etc have more to do with it than what country they are from.

Certain values and ideas etc are put into their heads at a very young age and they are almost impossible to change in later life. People tend to hang out with like minded people and especially women.

This problem is much deeper than the knives in question and much worse.

Personally I think a PHD is needed to get to the real problems.

if (children ==0)
{
divorce(you, wife);
char wife = ex;
}

Alright, alright, "ex" is a string and not a character, but whatever...

$5 or a cookie to anyone who understood that. And I get to choose lol

indeed, wife should be string, unless you take boolean variable and make subroutine that checks if wife is wife or not (ex) :D

For the OP: talk and take her to hike or camping and introduce her the world of wilderness and art of camping and fire making.

She does sound control freak though and I am not sure countering her actions with similar actoins would lead anything else but worse fight. Its better to show her they're tools and nothing else. Maybe she has never grown in environtment where knives, hatchets and axes are used outside TV from massacring people. Stupid Hollywood... But like others say, knives seem not to be a problem... something else is there. Talking would help. Without councillor first and later with councillor if that doesn't work.

People who are scared of being out of control become control freaks.

She is a foreigner who believes knife collecting is stupid and only belong in the kitchen, dull. Its a cultural issue. I go into phases where I will get interested in different hobbies. My first interest in knives began as a young teen and it came back in my late 30s. No financial issues either. Oh btw, snakes as pets too are forbidden along with porn. Mother in law was nicer last month when she visited and just looked at me very puzzled and ask why I like knives. I looked at her as puzzled and said why not. I'm from Texas, where we collect guns and knives. :grumpy: Our social status is the same, both college graduates, but good point on the foreigner part, its a real big culture issue.

Get rid of her.:thumbdn:
A controlling witch like her will drag your life into hell, one way or another.
She wants to control you; it isn't an equal partnership in her eyes.
Get out.

Interesting there Chuck Mike... so it's fear that can generate that. So is the wife a fraidy cat person? Is fear a central condition, and it is extending into your hobby? Then I suppose she needs to work on her fear syndrome, if this IS the case. Help her to do it but she has to visualize her situation first. Learn about how you can approach her on this I will have to agree with the other remarks - get a good marriage counselor. Good Luck!

My wife grew up wearing buckskins and going to rendezvous in the Midwest. She is a very effective tomahawk thrower and flint lock marksman(woman). She treasures the knives that her father makes, so I don't ever hear anything negative about knives and guns...except maybe excessive quantities.

Is there a wife passaround? ;)

+ 1 Million. :thumbup:

There will always be something and another issue.

Wait a minute before you fry her guys,...hey OP, so tell us, does you wife have a control freak persona or not?? Are the knives a symptom of a larger issue or is this a cultural issue with knives??

And by the way I saw something about Filipinos and knives they have a fear.
I have no clue where your wife is from, my uncle does have a Filipina wife though.

Unless she's from Rwanda, she has no valid cultural reason to get all bent out of shape over edged things.
What cultural differences explain the snake and porn ban?
It fits a pattern of attempted control which anyone who has had the misfortune of enduring such can see right away.
That's why I switched from "bring her to our side" to "dump the witch before your self-esteem disintegrates.":(

I can because I have been there more than once myself and not just about knives either so I can make a pretty good guess and if the MIL is involved it just compounds the issues.

When family and friends get into your relationship or marriage it's doomed to fail from my past experiences.

If she is a control freak it's doomed to fail.

There could also be other issues at hand worse than those two, certain psychological problems that could cause it to be doomed to fail.

I am betting on all 3 personally. ;)

Been there too... And I am getting flashbacks from reading this thread....

No snakes or porn?

My wife hates snakes... that I can understand. But porn? If I wanted to watch porn, my wife would be right there with me.

Well I think most women really wouldn't want their Man watching porn for various reasons and snakes are understandable also.

But to make a huge deal out of either then well that's something else. ;)

:thumbup: --- I forgot about the snakes and porn. I guess it's a wrap then Sir Davor, the road you are on is well-traveled, start preparing for the journey, best of luck! TCR, out.

Lol, that is NOT the solution ;)

That her? You lucky lucky man

Hey folks, first post on general discussion.

My wife has had concerns over my knife collecting also, but for us it has been with good reason. Economic uncerainty has caused me to agree with her and make my collection more sustainable, 20 or so +fixed blades. She isn't a controlling person operating on "wife version 1.0".

Plus I gave her a purple Spyderco FFG Delica. She has taken ownership of that knife, but will ask me to sharpen when it comes time.:D With vg-10 it might take a while for the factory edge to wear down.

This is a very large forum. echo...echo.......echo....
