My wife requested the first gumbo of the season for today. It’s still a bit warm. But, for me, it’s one if the 4 food groups (gumbo, jambalaya, hamburgers, tacos). I could eat it dead of summer. Anyway. I air fry chickens over the summer and do 2 at a time. Each time, we eat one and freeze the other. Yanked it out and tossed it in. Today’s jewelry is a Jim Dunlop improved trapper. But the work was done by a gec bunkhouse parer and an original American knife works chefs knife. It’s a big slab of w2 that isn’t so hard that it chips if it hits a bone, so it’s my go-to for anything meat related! Amd it’s so dadgum comfortable, not to mention one of the prettiest chefs knives I’ve ever seen, in my opinion.

That’s a lovely old Navy Jack, and your little monkey fist is fitting tribute for a sailor’s pocket. Nice job tying that!
Thank you. It didn't occur to me until you pointed it out, but a monkey fist is a sailor's knot, isn't it? Very fitting.
Cool Imperial and unbreakable 'conker' Rachel! :D ;)
Haha! The knot may be unbreakable, but I'm sure it's too light to win any conker games. It would be an endless draw.

I wish our primitive ancestors hadn't been such a bunch of pinheads. It isn't worth trying on a second-hand hat.
But it just occurred to me I could buy a used tweed jacket and try to make a hat. A bucket hat might be within my abilities.
Though the venerable watch cap is not exactly the chickens' feets.

It is for sure Rachel :) I guess you could put a steel ball inside the knot, turn it into a slung shot ;) :D
Stunning pair

I concur, that is indeed a beautiful chef knife.

This was delivered today by UPS as I was leaving my home to run some errands. It will be enjoyable watching this knife develop it's own character over time.
