But it just occurred to me I could buy a used tweed jacket and try to make a hat. A bucket hat might be within my abilities.
Though the venerable watch cap is not exactly the chickens' feets.

The next time you’re in Edinburgh (you really should visit Scotland) stop in one of the two Armstrong’s resale shops. You’ll have hundreds to sort through.
I found several that came home with me, my favorite was made in Ireland with a Scot name, Hugh, inked on the lining.
