What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good day everyone!
Yesterday i went out to pay my respects to the fallen American soldiers of WW2.
It was such an overwhelming experience to see all the graves of those who didn't get to grow old...for us...

For those who are interested in seeing all the pictures that i took. Here is a Dropbox link with the pictures. (I apologize if i'm not allowed to share links. If so, i will delete the link.)

That reminds me of a graveyard in Germany, very peaceful and a solemn reminder
Nicely done

It is amazing how much respect the Dutch show to the veterans its not reported in England.
My best friend is Dutch his wife's father was 15 years old on and in the Dutch resistance when the paratroopers landed in Eindhoven,he was there to support them.
I was at a international match in Eindhoven (many years ago) when the Dutch supporters threw garlic on the pitch.
When I asked why they said they where starved and all they had left to eat was garlic and daffodil bulbs.

Wow very interesting!

I always try to visit a war cemetery or atleast thing about fallen soldiers. Just to show my appreciation.

Besides traditional knives, i’m also a big collector of war memorabilia…i try to collect a lot of personal items like: dogtags, papers, pictures etc. Just so that that particular soldier and his services will never be forgotten.

I have a couple dog tags, and after a bit of researching on the internet i was able to find alot of pictures of the grave and family information about those soldiers.

If you ever come to England and visit the REME museum you will see my dog tags in the Northern Ireland section,I donated a lot of my stuff.

Wow that is really amazing of you!

I was thinking about donating a couple things aswell. But sadly where i live there aren’t a lot of museums that are dedicated to ww2… so for now i keep them displayed together with other war related items.

Looks delicious Dan, my daughter is vegan and has introduced us to several wonderful dishes. Although I still like a nice hunk of meat every once in awhile. 😊👍

Hi Todd, our daughters are both vegetarians ( they do eat some dairy and eggs )
The funny thing is that we raised them that way even though my wife and I do eat meat sometimes :) ( do as I say not as I do lol but hey I grew up in meat eating Argentina after all :))
They are at an age where they can choose what they want now but want none of it.
The faces they make when they see us eat meat on occasion  :D LOL

That's a coincidence Dan, I got some of those, in error, with my grocery delivery, might have them with spaghetti later ;)

I think you might be pleasantly surprised Jack , the ones we tried yesterday were quite good actually. I am not sure if they match the "real" ones though ;)

Morning folks, trying to wake up drinking my yerba mate infusion that I do on a coffee press sometimes instead of the traditional way.
Added some oat milk and maple syrup and it's quite good :) , sort of like black tea with milk

if we watch tv, it’s Andy Griffith
One of the best TV shows EVER!
I’m planning to go fishing with my Dad and the kids tomorrow, which will be fun.
Sounds like a wonderful day. Hope it's relaxing and fun.
I hope you had a good time at the football game.
It was great. Had some good BBQ, watched my son perform with the band, and left after the half time show since the game was well in hand... plus it was pretty chilly.
Great pic John, I should have a fire more often myself
Thank you, Jack. :)
There's something primal in all of us that like fires.
Hope it's an enjoyable trip to the museum. 🤠
That's a beautiful picture. 🤠
Fantastic picture. 🤠

Agree with John, what a beautiful picture Jeff. 😎👍

Oh yeah Dan, I know that look! 🤣👍

Stealing the idea from my friend, Todd. I'm really enjoying the morning fires again.
Just watching the sun come up, enjoying some strong coffee, and my dog to keep me company.

Beautiful case knife. Can barely see the matching leaf under it and the matching coffe cup. This knife thing is evolving into photography 401. Nicely done.

Thank you very much. :)
Sometimes a blind squirrel has a nut fall on his head.
Go Bucs!
My team isn't doing well, but can get back on track with a win over The Packers today.

My father-in-law passed away a few weeks ago. My son and nephew were quite close to him and my mother-in-law gave them these two knives. They were quite rusted up and dull but I told the boys I would do my best to clean them up. Wish I would’ve taken a before pic but here’s where they ended up today. I’ll probably work on them some more this week but I’m pumped the boys will be able carry these and think of good times with their pap!
