What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Johnnythefox Johnnythefox those old Frontiers are decent knives, the equal of a Schrade Old Timer. They were made by Imperial on old Schrade machinery and were plentiful in the mid 1970’s. I picked this one up a a pawnshop years ago, it was pretty dirty and slow but it cleaned up well and got its snap back. Combine the better grade of frame with Imperials easy to sharpen blade steel and you have a nice pocketknife. In the late 60’s and very early 70’s my Dad was one of our Scout leaders - he liked whittling and teaching us to whittle. Long ago he gave me a bag of cut blanks he had kept from back then, several years ago I used the Frontier Medium Stockman to whittle out an Indian Chief letter opener to test the old steel and see if I had retained any whittling skill. Think I’ll carry it today. OH

Wow thanks for the response, I LOVE your carving.

If you where at a craft fair in England doing that you would have a crowd around you and sell loads.

I love old things like these knifes that have history and when you have cleaned them up its even more yours.

I also like the red shields. I haven’t seen those before.

Thanks, Gary. Another home run designed by Charlie.

I switched out the SAK for the Dekalb Frontier this afternoon.

That board looks like the ones I remember being unable to ride.
I cleaned up my Frontier knife this morning,I worked out that the shield is a powder horn.

It was cold but I wasn't cold in the sun even took my cap of to get the benefit of it.

A wire brush,a small scraper and emery paper inside the scales.

Jobs a good un,its come up well and ready to use.

I think you're right about the powderhorn, and I think those had a snap- on bolster over a hollow rivet.

Love your skateboarding pics. Straight out of Dogtown. Tony Alva has nothing on you. Glad your skating with your son. The only time my father showed up at the skate park was to drive one of us to the hospital.

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I very much enjoyed my boozing session, having some excellent locally-brewed ales, in a couple of pubs, before going for some very tasty food :) I thought I'd start my week with a Waynorth Lambsfoot  Have a good week everyone

The ends are very solid,it has a good heft and feels strong.
Definitely. Those hollow rivets are probably stronger than peened pins.
And I could be mistaken, as you may be suggesting.
