What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Corto_Malt, please tell us more about the micarta shadow pattern. The blade shape is very similar to my Fantoni Dweller, which I carry often and find very useful. Carrying it today, for work.

Memory lane… my first, and last, attempt at making a mandolin from scratch. No idea how many hours I spent in my garage making every piece of this just right. This, ladies and gentlemen, was my absolute pride and joy…

… right up to when I finally put the strings on! Oh, cruel defeat snatched right from the jaws of glory!

In the end, it was determined by a unanimous 1-0 vote that this one sounds best when not played. But she hangs around as a stunning reminder of what could have been!

I’ve heard that students learning to make violins are required to smash their first one.
Don’t even think about it. The carved top and headstock inlay show you have real skill at this, so keep going!
Jawdropping lineup, GT!

I’m going to tote these today. My Tidiute 54 in muslin micarta, and my Victorinox Camper. Have a good start to your weekend, all.29D4167A-239A-4C52-9625-0ADE5701AFD3.jpeg

Hanukkah sameach Rachel! :)
Thank you, Jack!
The fork on your B&SK got me thinking that, since our Thanksgiving meal was attended by just my wife and I this year, maybe I could use my relatively new Ka-Bar hobo knife, but my wife found the idea objectionable. 🤓
Haha! I got a chance to use the bottle opener quite a bit, but used the full sized forks that were provided.
I never watched the X-Files, so I missed that connection. ;)
You've posted that top knife with H & B on the blade several times recently, but I don't seem to recall seeing it before that. Is it new-to-you? How about a brief description of the knife?
Thanks for noticing.
That is a Humason & Beckley Mfg. Co. (1852-1916) that I recently 'fished from the bay'. It had cracks in the bone and blades that sat too high for pocket carry. I stabilized the cracks with epoxy and reshaped the blades to sit in the well properly.

Thanks Jeff! It’s been sitting around the house for about 7 years now, so I think the statute of limitations for smashing it has expired! 😁
