paulhilborn paulhilborn ~ I love your old Schrade Cutlery Co! The Holyoke Belt Co stamp reminds me of when I was 14 or 15. With my cousin near his home town in rural Indiana, we rode bikes out to an abandoned factory. I don’t know what they made there, because the machinery was gone, but whatever it was, was belt driven. Hanging from the ceiling was an elaborate system of belts that delivered power from a central source ~ boiler? Steam power?

Just like the old Camillus 23 Jacks and Schrade 175s that were often stamped by the big paper mills (Felt companies), and the big Schrade 163 rope knives with so and so Cordage Co stamped in the wood, these knives are tied in with part of our now gone heritage.
Nice to see that! Think the 5 FMK notes disappeared in the early 90s replaced by a coin, there even used to be a 1 FMK note after the currency reform of 1963....5 Fmk isn't even a Euro now, all shows how inflation has roared along since the € got introduced. Sweden and Denmark had referendums about retaining their Kronor and they voted against Euro adoption . We weren't allowed a referendum ...might've given the 'wrong' result...The Markka existed since the 1860s when Finland was a Grand Duchy of Russia, our own currency and National Bank even then, not any longer o_O
Time for a new Independence Day. Get the old gang together.
Happy Thursday Everybody.
I'm glad I spent some time outdoors with my pup yesterday,
because today is rainy, dark, and cold. But it's almost the weekend. 🤠
Nice. Looks like it could be an apple tree?
Your bacon looks far superior to what we have been conditioned to accept here in grocery stores in the States. Pre sliced, mostly fat, full of chemicals, and vacuum squeezed into plastic. I need to make a visit to the butcher’s.

Not sure what kind of tree it is.
I never bears fruit and was there long before my house was built.

The short days are by far the thing I like least about winter 🙁 Thanks a lot mate, I came across the card the other day, while sorting out some things, it was from my next door neighbours last year 👍

This is the third one of these #49 zebrawoods I've had, gave the first two away, both stellar knives. Had a devil of a time finding this third one, and it's not so great. Overly krinked sheepfoot makes for an uneven bevel no matter how I sharpen it, but I did get it sharp, and it's staying put.
