What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

;) Rsmith

Just trying to get Kevin to be honest with us and himself. Its obvious the outlaw is your go to knife, you have cast that 85 to the back of a drawer. Shame on you ....we need a shameful finger smiley lol :P

o.O
oooh the back drawer of shame ...
*shudders*

Not in the drawer yet but yes the 76 is the go to. The 85 is hibernating next to my sebenza.

I am laughing btw. :)

At least it has good company when riding the pine

Just went to the bench myself and called up on old timer. This one see's regular house carry, I never know its in my pocket until I need it. Really like the bomb shield as well.

glad we can get you to laugh, I know you've had alot going on the last few months.

now, I seem to recall you going on about how GEC's in general and that 76 in particular was "over built" for your tastes
has the outlaw changed your feelings? Or are you just enamored of the jack pattern ??

inquiring minds want to know :p

Thanks Kevin, if you remember I received that in the gracious giveaway by Pete. It was the shining star to me and Is the best old knife I own.

Case 32 frame jack seems to be a popular choice today. Here's the one that is in my pocket, a 6232 from 1978 soaking in the rays.

Nice Doug. I am really diggin on that apollossa or molasses bone, whatever CASE calls it I like it. Need to find me a 1979 vintage ;)

Well, that's a great question, Ryan. The clunkiness as I described before was in comparison to my slim custom like 85EO and my grandfathers old Case 62087. At first I just could not get over the looks and the feel was heavier and less refined. After carrying it along and putting it through a good deal of work in just a few weeks I realized those thicker bolster were adding some decent strength. A few time cutting there was a lot of lateral force on the pivot (by accident) that was enough to loosen more slender knives. I have actually gotten used the the feel of the handle shape in my hand and it manipulates and sits right easier and more naturally. I said the other day its kind of an ugly duckling, form follows function knife to me and it is. I have come to actually see the knife in a different light. The pen in front of the higher riding clip really makes blade choices flawless. No fumbling around for different blades. The bone really lacked imo at first. Too wishy washy and blah, but that too grew on me. Its just become my, "little big" Jack :)

Thanks Jeff. Even though it looks similar to my appaloosa peanut from 1978, I don't believe this jack was so designated.

Sunday calls for a small knife and the MCH fits the bill perfectly.

That is a beauty, Ed!

I had a small knife in my pocket this morning when I was dressed less casually.

I love how slender this Wadsworth sleeveboard is.

I was not sure, but I have seen it on a few knives now. Really shows its depth when you take it out in the sun, thanks for sharing.

Great insight Kevin. In a way I think traditionals in general where that way for me. Ugly ducklings and then I used one. The form follows function came into play and now I cant get enough. I personally feel most GEC's are over built in just the right places for each pattern. Its obvious they know what they are doing. They do it very well. If the outlaw had been out when I was looking at jack patterns I would have picked it up over the 66 on looks alone then add in the nail nicks on the same side and its a done deal. I still want to pick one up and give it the Sturzi treatment ;). I am just waiting on a two bladed knife right now, no need to pick anymore up.

uh oh,
think we 85 fans have lost Kevin to the 76!

on the other hand, glad you found something that spoke to you...
although i am wondering what you think of the 85 jack now :D

oh and to stay on topic

Jeff and Ryan, I have always been glad to have made friends with both of you. You guys do both bring me up and and show tons of decency. With that said, Sturzi's modded 76 is awesome and it seems like the perfect knife for the mod with the longer pen blade. The 85 did NOT lose me at ALL though :)

I'm just working with what I have. :)
