My bread and butter is rhetoric (writing and speech), but I also teach logic (formal and informal) and humanities (a "great books" style humanities program).I used to have sections each semester of "Concepts in Mathematics," which was a math survey course intended for nursing majors. I feel your pain!
What do you normally teach?
Very clever bending jig you devised, Jeff. I’m looking forward to seeing the end product. I started making a guitar in college when I had access to all the tools at the Craft Center. I finished college before I finished the guitar, so 20-some years later it sits in my closet unfinished. Great pair of knives, too.Wow! I fell about five pages behind here, so had some catching up to do. Instead of keeping up yesterday, I fired up the propane heater, and made something in my garage/woodshop.
One of the fun parts of building a guitar is making your own jigs, tools, and templates.
If I were to buy them, I couldn’t afford this hobby.
Fret wire comes in a tube like this:View attachment 1715155It has to be bent to match the fingerboard radius, so I made this fret bender out of closet door wheels. The top wheel is mounted in a slot so I can adjust the radius.View attachment 1715156
And today, which is Woodnesday, I’ve got this Taylor’s Eye Witness Lambfoot along with this unusual Ulster Electrician. The butt end is fat and rounded, which makes for a comfy grip as a screwdriver.View attachment 1715157
Those diamond jacks are so cool.View attachment 1715162Over on the Mr CC SFO thread the exquisite jigging GEC did for Charlie is being discussed. I posted this photo of two of GEC’s finest jigging earlier this am but I’m still drinking the espresso and fiddling with this 15 and 48, so here it is again.
I’m doing the same this week.Today’s carry, at home quarantined.

I like the Barlows. I’ve never carried 2 of the same knife before. Then again, I don’t think I’ve owned 2 of the same knife before.

First thing I thought was, if that house could talk. Glad the property went to someone who appreciates it. the Eland somehow looks very appropriate thereAn Eland accompanies while I explore an uninhabitable, abandoned three bedroom property I acquired at property tax auction for $500.
Soon to be bulldozed away, as it is a health hazard filled with vermin and nocuous mold.
Built in 1940, many of all stripes have come and gone but none will EVER live here again.
Clearing the lot allows me to expand my homestead, garden and sanctuary. Amen

Do you use the TEW on the fret slots cause I heard they might be hard to do?Wow! I fell about five pages behind here, so had some catching up to do. Instead of keeping up yesterday, I fired up the propane heater, and made something in my garage/woodshop.

Really great canoes, Rachael really did do a fantastic job, looks amazing.I carry a couple of canoes every week. This week both are Rough Riders. One is a smooth tobacco bone model, the other is a smooth white bone model that was originally mundane, but with some @r8shell magic became magnificent!

I also carry a couple of stockman knives each week, one a sowbelly and one a "regular" stockman. This week my sowbelly is a Rough Rider stag model, and my regular stockman is a 34OT (thanks, Dave):
