What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today is an optional workday for me being a federal holiday. I elected to come in so I could get caught up in the office, and with nobody else here it’s amazing how much I can get done. I do have the option of taking another paid day off later in the year at my choosing. I think it will have to be a day to go fishing. Brought the Ulster JR cattle knife with me to the office.

Speaking of the “Wise One,” Harry and I weren’t able to meet for breakfast before we headed home this morning, bummed about that, but we did take his advice about driving on the ice and a breakfast place. Thanks Harry, Egg Harbor was fantastic! View attachment 1747956View attachment 1747958
I’m a sucker for Carnitas, and with eggs, yummy! 😋 Kinda surprised you didn’t recommend your own place Harry. 🤣View attachment 1747957
Egg Harbor is great~ we’ve been there multiple times. The only problem is their popularity. Sometimes the wait time is too much.
Safe travels!
That’s a real nice KM jack, Jer!

Todays tools in use.

The wind is back and blowing a gale.
So with the help of my neighbour's ladder and her holding it so I dont fall I did a temporary repair.
There was a dowel/Knott type hole in the wood so I trimmed a bit of branch and cut it to fit with the farmer.
I then Glued it in place, this little saw is better than Leatherman's and ideal for some jobs like this

I cut and trimmed the felt that had blown away and used lots of nails on the edge so the wind cant get a grip.
Small and fiddly I used Knippex pliers (the best) to hold them then I used a pin hammer while leaning down on the ladder getting low from the wind.
There is a small gap and its not up and over, but best I could do.
The new stuff is so heavy it will need at least 2 people and warm weather to be malleable I dont think I can do it.I may get some cheaper lighter stuff if I cant find a roofer to do it for me.

If you're short on roofing nails, I can send you the ones I found last year after sweeping the yard with a magnet, after the roofers were done.

Big day!!! I'm well enough to go to the Wagon Wheel Cafe for a soft breakfast - pancakes and then on to the Holiday Market and Four Corners Market and maybe a stop at the Grocery Outlet. Nothing heavy duty planned during this adventure so, this Baby Remington will do just fine. Edited to add: Actually, this knife is quite capable of handling some pretty heavy duty tasks. It's pretty dang stout.
