What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

97 and a 77 with bolster that can be used as shaving mirrors.

That yellow rose is a beauty, Gus. 😍
Thank you kindly Jeremy :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Not many made and I was really lucky on a frugally priced and very lightly used “2” model when I found it. The only details I’ve ever noticed, were the missing etch (possibly removed by first owner?) and a bit more space by the bolster to the left in this pic of the pile…..

That river blue 54 HJ though, was a lot tougher (effort & $) to procure with only 13 ever made.

Lamb foot today with an old goat bell.

Such a cool picture Bart. Looks like you are getting a nice patina going on your Lambsfoot. 😎👍
Good Morning Porch Friends
Classy picture John. 😎👍
Dadburnit, Harry! As I was typing that, I said to myself, “Don’t forget walleye-we like walleye a lot.”
And the the other voice in my head said “Don’t worry-someone will mention walleye”.
Can’t go wrong either way, so I say get both as Mr Crappie71 Crappie71 has shown so well.

Walleye involve a boat and a long drive, Crappie are much more accessable for me...

And Crappie71 Crappie71 , nice 36! I’ve wanted one of those Tyler T grips for a while.

Something made me think of fishing while poking through a cigar box, so I thought I’d better have this old Hammer Brand Fish Knife with me today. And this Primble serpentiney trapperish jacklike thing with pretty bone that looks so remarkably like a Schrade 294 that the dna is obvious.View attachment 1762688View attachment 1762689 Have a great day, eh?
Fantastic photos Jeff. The guy I coach with is a crappie fishing fanatic. He keeps several of us here at school stocked with crappie filets. They make great fish tacos. 😊
These two sharp dressed fellas today. Y’all have a great one!

Two nice ones right there, and a really nice photo. I love my owl, I moved my 38, I do miss it a little, but it’s found a great home.😊👍

I'm coming to a point where I'm going to downsize my collection of knives. This was reinforced yesterday when I visited with a long time member @RDaneel. Dean is/has been doing this as well and I've discussed it with Duncan @Campbellclanman over the last few years. I won't kid myself, I'll still buy a knife occasionally but will sell more than I buy. One thing is I never re-gift or sell a knife I was gifted.

This wonderful Harness Jack was gifted to me by my friend Duncan back when it was released and has lived a dutiful life of leisure opening mail since it arrived. However all of our mail is now sent to our furniture store and this HJ has sat idle for the last few months at home. Logic says if it's a keeper it needs to be a user. So her she is, all shiny and new like the day it arrived.

I think many of us here have been fortunate enough that if we only kept the knives we’ve been gifted by fellow Porch members, we’d still have a pretty good collection. 🙂

I do occasionally get that feeling of “dang I’ve got a lot of knives,” but I haven’t yet reached the downsizing point yet. 😁

Good looking Harness Jack there, Paul!

There is no accounting for taste I guess . Crappies are O.K. , but I much prefer Walleye and IMO Shore Lunch Walleye is the best . But maybe you have never had Walleye .

Harry

I’m with you there, Harry. Shore Lunch walleye is hard to beat!

Back in high school, long before I lived in MN, we used to come up here to fish for a week every summer. We weren’t very good at catching walleye, but when we did, that was a good day. (Of course, even the days we didn’t catch a thing were pretty good days.) 🙂
