Sturzi - Nice knife, I like the ram's horn.

On an unrelated note, where do you live? Those look like a Western White Pine and a small Jeffrey Pine cone.

You might be right, no idea :)
But I live far away in Switzerland, these are from a vacation in the California Redwoods. And small cones you say? These would be signs of the coming apocalypse or something over here  :D

It's a Halfrich type of day for me. Talked to Jerry yesterday, he has 2 gorgeous knives done for me ( Hidalgo front lock in old growth redwood burl handles and a Mike Norris Hornets Nest stainless damascus blade and a Jack Russell small fixed blade in M4 tool steel and old growth redwood burl handle and lanyard bead). Will post pics next week.

Beautiful Kris, but would it be considered heresy on a knife board to say I am more in awe of the sheath?

Humble, useful Imperial jack for me today.

Thanks Doug, Paul Long made the sheath for me, I have several from Paul, and all are exceptionally well made.

Some where over the rainbow
High above the tree tops
Where blue birds fly
I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

I would be delighted if I could find that pot at the end of the rainbow and discover inside it that stockman on the right of your picture. Simply lovely!

Kris, those liners are sick.

Wow, I totally missed that.
Are the liners and bolsters made from one piece and milled down to add the covers? And does the pivot pin mushroom over the bolsters or is it flush and only looks that way because it's a different material?
Thanks

Thank you. Yes, the bolster and liner are integral Damasteel (small roses pattern),
blade and spring are 20 twist Damasteel

Thank you, and yes, it's ram's horn. Quite a grippy cover material and surprisingly translucent.
It's from 2010 and was made by GEC (with the #48 frame)

Sturzi, thanks for the additional information. I was transfixed by (and puzzling over) that handle as well. At first, it looked to me like bone that had been sheared off!

Do you perhaps have other pictures of it, with different views of the handle? (If I've missed this somewhere before, I apologize.)

Very nice piece; a conversation-starter, for sure! :)

The same as yesterday... only the pic is a new one ;)

Thanks for the info Kris, it is a gorgeous piece. Can't wait for the new arrivals :)

I never posted other pics, but I'll gladly oblige :)
The pile side, as you can see where it isn't polished the surface is pretty rough.

And has some nice waves in it.

Trying to capture the translucency, you can clearly see the pins.

Here are some more, so this thread doesn't get too cluttered.

Thanks, Sturzi-- that's exactly what I'd hoped to see more of, and then some.

What a unique and interesting knife!

Meanwhile, I see that Black Mamba has just started a ram's horn thread here.

I'd say these pictures (and more!) are just what that thread needs. :)

Again, thank you.

Its pea soup this morning so I had to try and cope with the orifice lighting.

The Taramundi is gonna ride along for a few days....the #53 felt REALLY big in the pocket yesterday :-/
Seems to me I thought that Taramundi was way smaller than it looks in that shot. Looks like about 3.5" handle with 3" blade?

Whoops, double-tap.

Might as well say, then, that today I'm carrying another project. This one started as a Polar 95 blade that our own Scruffuk kindly sent me, along with the relevant brass bits and a sheath insert. I had some nice wood sitting in the workshop, so I spent a couple hours this past weekend and made a handle for it. Here's a little "photo story" about it (thanks, Photobucket).

Polar 95 handle job (clicky)

Have yet to make some proper pants for it, but that will come soon.

Hope you guys like it... I sure do!

Thanks, Scruff! Much obliged, mate! I like this blade very well, it's just about the perfect size for a pocket-puukko!

Paul

I really, really like that. The wood handles, the swedge, the long pull, everything. Does this knife has a half stop?

I've been carrying something similar, a GEC Hayn' Helper sheepsfoot, for the last several months. For general utility it's hard to beat a straight edge.
