I had a revelation on my recent trip from Illinois to Colorado in my Crosstrek. It has a gas mileage program that’s dead on accurate ~ I can see what I’m getting in the moment, or average.
All kinds ‘o whizbang features!
I like to drive with the windows down, but to get a break from the wind noise and heat, I used the AC. My mileage average went from 39 with the windows open, to over 42 with the windows closed, and the AC on. I guess the drag of open windows has more effect on mpg than the AC compressor.
