What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

We pick up these two does on Sunday! Put some posts in the ground letting the concrete cure. Then I will be fencing them up a nice little pen.

First, goats are fun critters. You’re going to enjoy them.
Second, I take it this is a new release from GEC? Excellent pattern for a useful secondary, but did they really name it “Sudbuster” 🥱

Third, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

You're a Gold Member. Why not bring up the picture you want to use, right click it, click on copy, and paste it into your text or where you want it?
Well Ed, thank you!!! I guess I had always posted differently before using the img and /img flanking the image. and people say you can't teach an old dog new tricks ;) :D

Love the does and happy birthday ! ☺️

Today was my daughter Eleanor’s 6th birthday, so, of course, I was carrying her Nifebrite #71 Bull Nose again, which is sporting some flashy new paracord (per Eleanor’s request).

We went out to her favorite place for breakfast, then spent most of the day at the Minnesota Zoo. Eleanor and Scout had fun, but it was a warm day, and the zoo is spread out and requires a good deal of walking, so by the time we were done, we were all pretty worn out. Eleanor rode a camel for the first time, which she enjoyed.

When we got to the farm section of the zoo (which is as far from the zoo entrance as you can get), the girls were more interested in standing in front of this giant fan than petting any goats or looking at the baby pigs. 😁

After the zoo, we headed home to relax. Eleanor got to choose what we made for dinner, trenette al pesto. We’re having her first real birthday party tomorrow, which of course will involve cake, so tonight we decided on a selection of cupcakes from a local bakery.

We also took Eleanor’s annual “knife photo” while we were at the zoo, and as part of that tradition, I’ll now subject you to all the previous years’ photos before posting the new one. 😉

Still had that “New Baby” smell:

2nd birthday. I can’t even remember the attempts I made at getting a decent picture that year, but as you can tell by what I apparently decided was the best photo I was going to get, Eleanor wasn’t very cooperative at 2 years old.

Love that 6247, Bart!

Thanks, Gary. It’s a good one!

Having a partner is a great idea. I grew up on a dairy farm, and my Dad never had more than 12 hours off until my brothers and I were high school age.

It works out well. Neither one of us could do it ourself and it allows us time away.

By the way, dairies are the worst as far as being able to get away. I can’t imagine growing up on one. Beef cows are a lot more self-sufficient.
Nice shot Bart. 😎👍
Thanks, Todd!

Thanks Bart. I like the TK-1. I do have one of Tom's TK-11, B&T. Very similar but about an inch longer.
In general I prefer some belly on a small fixed blade. Just seems to be the right choice for me. I like a small straight edge as a secondary on a folder though. Like the little Wharncliff we have on our Eureka Jacks.
Just so happens these were set aside for today.

Thanks for the info Gary. I love them both. 👍
Going with a couple Boker Barlows today. 🤣
It isn’t a Barlow, but it’s a VERY fine knife. 😊👍View attachment 1877518
Great looking pair, Todd.
I do like to use my tools.

My first from Brive and my favourite.

Purely because ive used it and it has nice patina on my favourite type of wood.

click to easy view,I don’t know another way of doing it.

Cool blade shape on that new one. 👍

Happy birthday, Taylor. Those goats are very cute. They are going to be a ton of fun…until they figure out how to escape. 😁
