What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Just finished this Nudiejeans denim micarta build, works well for testing the peaches (wich have another week to ripe before harvest) :)
Said it before, but you desrve it again ~ nice work!
You both nailed it. Awesome pattern if you like straight edge blades, which I do.

I’m not sure I’ve seen this version of the 54. Looks great.
A 54 was my first GEC, the Big Jack. I got it used on ebay for fifty or sixty dollars. Boy, those days are gone. Otherwise, i’d certainly buy other variants of the 54, because I love a big, stout knife.
High plains drifter (look at those fields) or coffee with the Rolling Stones you decide 😁

Little circular ride around Newbury to a favourite Cafe stop.

loyalty card stamped full so I got a free flat white it only cost me about £200s in petrol 🤣

Sitting outside reading this book (still haven't finished it) some times I have to read a page 2 or 3 times to take it all in.

He joined at 16 he's only 18 in these paragraphs and he's seen 2 years of combat.

Unlike all those special forces books, this is written in a modest, very truthful way warts and all.

The way he describes when they run away from the Germans really got to me,it wasnt cowardice it was survival.

He does not just give all the heroic highlights.

When he talks about what you are supposed to do,reminded me of when a sniper was shooting at me in Sarajevo.

At first training from 20 years ago kicked I and I zig zagged, then I realised I was way to slow and it was quicker to run straight.

So I did he missed so I was right 😁

Oh and isn't my Forum knife looking purty in the occasional sunshine,I still appreciate owning and using it.😍

I enjoy your travel logs and pics from the English countryside. You do love to ride!
Hello friends, got this trusty 71 with me today. I’m leaving on a short trip to the Coachella valley tomorrow and might just drag this one along. It’s sharpened to 17 degrees on my wicked edge and it’s still wicked sharp after slicing through countless apples. Will likely throw it on the Vice and strop it back to whittling sharp when I’m back from my trip 😃 it’s such a great user 💯

Looks like apples have some compound that reacts with carbon steel. It looks great.
And you’re right the Bullnose is a great user. I’ll bet you’d also like it’s big brother, the #21 Bull Buster. I use mine in the garden a lot. It takes off a head of cauliflower without complaint.
Lol... Yes indeed. 🤣

Thank you, Jack. :)

Very cool shot, and a beautiful visitor. 🤠

Very cool picture, Johnny. 🤠

Thanks John!
I almost managed a photo of one of my resident hummingbirds while he was sampling the nectar from my hollyhocks, but I had an open bag of spinach seeds in my hand, and before I could close it and get my phone out, he’d moved on. You’ll just have to take my word for it! 😁
Mail Call ... and going through the bonding phase
CASE 101011 Black Canvas Laminate Hawkbill
Centering is okay but not "perfect. I'll have to learn to sharpen a Hawkbill

EDIT: Centering was VERY easily corrected while at the half stop. No idea why anyone would even need a nail nick on this beast
Closed, the blade sticks up so high, I think you could sail it LOL
Found more blade play than expected but probably won't correct. It strictly a working kind of knife
EDIT2: Okay, did correct most of the blade play because it always bothers me regardless
No blade play when opened and have to hunt for it when closed.
The born on date found on the box end was a Friday, 03/25/22 ... must have been a long week

I use crock sharpening sticks for my hawks. Or the bottom of my coffee mug.

Thanks for the Hawkbill sharpening hints !!! :)
I have watched a YT video and the guy used a stick from a Sharpmaker, which I have but seldom have used
Mostly I use a Ken Onion Work Sharp. It's a belt sharpener and I kinda believe CASE uses belts to sharpen these. Dunno
Regardless, it will be a learning curve for me. Muscle memory MAY be a little different for a Hawkbill ... maybe

Thank you sir, I’d say 95% of all my traditional knife patina’s consist of apple 😄 the 21 does look like a nice big knife, I might have to go for one whenever GEC produces some more 👍

Third day in a row for this one. I’m really enjoying it; it puts me in mind of a simpler time. When I was a kid, all boys carried an Imperial or Colonial Camp Knife, and the big boys carried delrin Old Timers or stainless Uncle Henry’s. Those are good memories.🙂
