What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Not exactly sure Jer but it still won't hurt to keep an eye out. Not worried so much for Cindy and I but the ever curious dogs might not do so well with a scorpion sting.
And as Kephart said, a scorpion sting may not be particularly dangerous, but neither is it particularly dangerous to have a red-hot wire applied to one's skin. (still worth avoiding)

I like a lot of different knives, traditional, modern, fixed and folding. Honestly though, the Alox SAKs are pretty perfect for doing 95% of the stuff I do. They’re pretty cheap, very durable and I’ve never had to send one back that slipped past QC and was unacceptable to me (since 1980 or so). Victorinox makes a LOT of knives every day and I think that’s pretty darn good on the quality front.

Sometimes I sit and drink coffee and meditate on the good and evil of possessions and wretched excess. I wonder if I’d be happy giving away all my knives save for a farmer and pioneer or two. Carrying basically the same knife every day. Using all the tools. Accomplishing tasks that need accomplishing, slicing the salami that needs slicing, spreading the pimento cheese spread that needs spreading.

I probably would.

Maybe next year though…
I do the same thing!!! Maybe it comes with age or wisdom? Not sure on the wisdom part but I've got the age thing covered :D

Thanks Jack and likewise on your pair !
Thanks Steve 🙂👍
Looks like a great combo, Jack. That stag is stunning
Thank you kindly Greg, some vintage Sambar 🙂👍
I hope things ease up for you soon, Tyson.

Striking photo of your ebony Lamb John 😎👍
🤣👍
I remember some folks saying they couldn’t open the punch on the 2016 BF #35 without opening the main blade first.
Wasn't it about 1 in 3? It was a fairly easy fix at least 😉👍
I was staring at that photo on my phone, thinking 'what on earth is that'?! 😳 Think I might need some new readers! 🤣👍

Thanks for the Cudeman compliment, Steve.
Your Quintana Taramundi looks splendid! I don't know very much about the variety of Taramundi that are available. Is there a little liner lock tab below the bolster on your cocobolo CQ?

Thanks Gary. I don't know very much about Taramundi's either, but there are some very fancy versions available. Yes, it's a liner lock tab although I don't find it very necessary. I wasn't able to find that style in a friction folder. I guess you got lucky!

Glad you’re getting some cooler weather down there. Is the “cold” water still coming out of the tap at 90+ degrees? 😁 When you mentioned that a couple weeks ago, I checked our kitchen faucet out of curiosity. 63°.

Sorry to hear about the bottle opener. Is it the strong pull, the fact that it sits low, or a combination of the two? I remember some folks saying they couldn’t open the punch on the 2016 BF #35 without opening the main blade first.

I got my own Johnny on the Spot in a couple days ago, and find the pulls to be just right (and a huge improvement compared to the weak pulls on the Beer & Sausage), but of course pull strength is very subjective.
The water isn't registering on my thermometer, so at least it isn't fever temperature anymore. They don't bury the pipes very deep here, so it's never actually cold except maybe in February.

The pulls on the camp knife are definitely stronger than on the B&S, but that isn't really the problem. I have weak nails, and the bottle opener is sitting such that I can only access it with my thumbnail at 90 degrees. If the blade were higher, or if the handle had a nail relief, I could open it by pushing my nail forward and upward, rather than straight out, if that makes any sense. The problem with some of the 2016 BFs was the punch catching against the main blade, fortunately mine didn't have that issue.

Thought I'd carry this one today, along with my lambsfoot posted on the usual thread

This one has pull on the screwdriver that I need to use a blade key but the main is a really nice spear. I'll likely play with easing up the pull later...
