What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Oh fer cryin out loud.
Root vegetables make ya strong, and beets are the king of root vegetables.
Quartered or sliced, in a cast iron skillet with some butter, covered with foil, and roasted at 400 degrees for an hour or so...
Oh yeah.
When you are in a hurry, mix a scoop of beet powder in your drink, and swallow some beet supplement tablets.

And don’t toss the greens. Raw in salad, or cooked with your turnip and collards greens.
Jeff, you make them sound so tasty. Guess I will try to find some fresh ones and give them a chance.
Bet that method would work for turnips and rutabaga as well. Although for me, turnips straight from the garden are the best

Like Jack said, just remember that the red coloring does work it’s way out! 😲

We all have things we don’t like. When I was a kid, lima beans were in my Mom’s supper rotation. I can remember not being allowed to leave the table until I gagged them down.

Now, I kind of like them. So I keep them down in the pantry to soak for soups and things.

After my onions were done, I planted a row of turnips in that spot. I purposely planted them too thick, so they’d need thinning. We like the turnip greensπŸ˜›.
Had some last night.

How do you like your turnips cooked?

I had a couple of lambsfoot knives with me today, checking out the manhole covers of Cedarville, MI.

Did you try and pry them open with your knife?🀣 on a serious note, those are two fine lambs you have there.
Had these in my bag today. View attachment 1904142
Finely paired, Todd.

Understand what you and Jack are talking about. I love limas. Cooked with some ham and onion then paired with corn bread. Good eating.
The turnip greens cook as you do collards. The roots, I put in soup with other root veggies.

Nice choice, Bart. 🀠
Thanks, John.

That one is aging nicely, John. It’s a beauty. πŸ‘
Most especially if it's for public office!
Been through the wringer here over the last couple weeks, left no time to post unfortunately. Here's a photodump with few horrible indoor pictures of traditionals in action and today's self-congratulatory carry. Been wanting that Orange Jarritos since I picked up the 85, it's one of the few sodas I will drink. Was just the thing after a day out in the heat! Looking forward to some hard-earned time to pull up a chair and catch up.

What is that shadow pattern in the first picture?
The last few days have been so stressful that today, instead of my usual two pocket knives, I decided to carry three.

I hope things ease up for you soon, Tyson.

Interesting stuff Rachel :) Good old GEC, adding those authentic touches! ;) :D
😁 It does take me back.
Notable pair, Rachel! (But I think any pair that includes that Voos is worth noting.)
Thanks, Gary. It's a good simple jackknife, for sure.
I was talking to my friend Barry yesterday, 85 and still fit as a fiddle. He told his wife he had some blood in his urine, and was going to see the doc, until she reminded him he'd polished off a jar of pickled beetroot the previous evening  :D
