What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

68 spear is one of my favorites. The “Northfield” stamp on the bail is a classy touch. Would love to see that come back on a pattern.View attachment 1907664
I'd love to see this but it's one of those things I doubt they'll bring back. I feel they just don't have the time or resources to pursue this level of detail as they've shifted to less variation and higher production numbers.

Well, it's not like I'm building bonfires, cutting up carpet or dressing elk on a daily basis 🤣

The only thing I find impractical is the hole in the tab. Standard key rings won't fit, nor will a ball chain.
About the only thing going through that "lanyard" hole is a thin cord ... but it fits the jeans 5th pocket quite well.

Mikov, a Czech Republic manufacturer founded in 1794, is the maker of the Rybička (English: Little Fish) knife.
It has been produced since the first decades of the 20th century in several materials and finishes.
The knife was particularly popular during the period of socialism in Czechoslovakia. It was valued as a simple and small tool used for mushroom picking, a traditional Czech hobby.
The design of the Rybička knife apparently originates from the production of the cutlery workshop of Jan Maixner, however, it gained popularity only after Ignaz Rösler took over the company.
During the second half of the 20th century, a part of the production moved to Slovakia, under the sister company Sandrik. The knives were identical, only the tang stamp was different.

During an exhibition of knives in Prague in 2005, Rybička (Little Fish) received honorable mention as "the most famous knife of Czechoslovakia".
Thank you for sharing, that was some interesting reading! I'm going to have to look into it some more and try to figure out where I got it.

It is a good 5th pocket knife, and I'll sometimes carry it when I wear shorts since it doesn't weigh very much.

Copperhead Monday ... kinda looks red in this light

🤣

Looks great Bart! The stickers are a nice touch, bet it won’t be long before that whole side is covered with them. 😉👍

Those looks so good together Jeff. 😎👍

I know. Being close to a big knife retailer is both a curse and a blessing. 🤣

Nice photo John. What’s the mouse made out of?

I really like them too. Moved my Rosewood user along, wish I hadn’t. If anyone out there has one…😉

You’re very welcome my friend. Glad my “Little Coco” found its way back home also. Things have a way of working out don’t they?
Indeed, they sure do.

Good Morning Porch Friends
Today I'll be carrying a Lambsfoot (as usual), something for Micarta Monday, and something for Metal Monday...

A very clean looking tasteful trio, all appealing. Except that Rat....:D My Tabbycat would be on that rodent case straightaway:eek::cool: The Owls & Hawks at the country house have slim pickings when she's in residence:)

Thanks, Will

Attractive monochrome... The Proper has vibes of a Scagel folder about it, rough, yet ready for action  I'm getting drawn in:eek::) What colours of Micarta was it issued in? Burgundy I pray....

Thanks, Will
It was green micarta (like mine) and red G-10 originally, later adding black CF. The micarta and G-10 had S30V blades, I think the CF had S90V. There were drop points and clip points.

All, sadly, no longer in production. But I think you can still find new old stock if you look around. The replacement for the Proper is the Weekender, but they ruined it but putting a caplifter on it. :(

That one has a few distinctive touches! The bail is one, the swedged spear main with the long pull is another … I’d really like to see GEC use that main blade style on other patterns as well …
Thanks for sharing!
