GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORGIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! 🤠

I usually don’t share personal information here on the porch. I haven’t been real active lately until the last few days. My beautiful bride of 37 years had surgery for stage one lung cancer two weeks ago. The doc told us that he has been doing this for a long time and if he was a betting man he’d bet that he got it all. We wouldn’t know for sure until the pathology report came back. Well it came back yesterday and the next time I go to Vegas I’m taking him! All gone with no further treatment needed except for monitoring. Of course the knife gods smiled upon me and delivered this gorgeous #59 on the same day 😃.

Huge relief! :) Best wishes to you and your good lady my friend :)
Great to hear, sf fanatic sf fanatic ! Continued well wishes. BTW - the Warriors have treated me well over the years in Vegas.

Redmeadow today. This is a fantastic knife and sheath. The Redmeadow sub forum has many better pics of John’s awesome work, good folks (a few regulars here participate). Have a nice weekend.

The slingshot was a handmade gift from Crazy Canuck Crazy Canuck . I'm going to make some clay balls to shoot out at my friend's property (I'm hoping they'll blow apart in an entertaining way and no worries about stray steel shot in the brush)
I'm also hoping to do a little clean/oil/sharpen fettling on this Abram Brooksbank Jack Black Jack Black sent. It's in my watch pocket for now. Thanks, Jack. It's a beaut!

I hope everyone's having a good weekend.
Fantastic slingshot Rachel, you're going to have lots of fun! Handmade gifts are very special :) Good luck with your fettling. Having picked it up just as I was about to post a package to you, I barely had a look at it, but it looks like it's been badly stored rather than heavily used perhaps?
Good Morning Porch Friends
I've got a benefit corn hole tournament tomorrow, so getting in a little practice while it's cool outside.

Thanks James. 😊👍

Here they are in my “box” along with a beautiful Case teardrop, as the sun began to shine through the leaves this morning. I just sat there and stared at them until the light was gone. Okay…that just got weird! 🤣27D7F28F-CB7A-4C85-B555-0B22584F63A4.jpeg

Great picture... Nice to see some spots on your Spot. 🤠
The patina is coming along. A fat spear has never been my favorite blade shape, but there's no denying it's the best for spreading peanut butter.
They’re too thick for coffee filters, but maybe those masks would be good for flitzing and oiling knives.🤔
Besides medical offices, the only use I have for masks lately is when I move wood chips and they’re full of mold spores. Dangerous stuff. 😷

The clay balls for slingshot ammo is a great idea. I’ll have to think about where to get some clay. Last weekend, I replaced the 6x6 post that my gate is hung on, and finally reached clay 40 inches down. I should have saved some.

Jack knew exactly who to give that veteran whittler to! Please show it after your fettling!
Covid's still going around here, so I still mask up in stores. Besides, I've never before gone a whole three year stretch without catching one cold, so I'm not in any hurry.

40 inches is a bit of a ways to dig. I happen to have a friend taking a ceramics class on the weekends; she's gonna stop by later with a few handfuls of pottery clay.

Lucky timing for me! There's some wear, but not excessive. I'll see if some oil puts the snap back in the springs.

Oh no, has it got lazy springs?! I'm not sure how I missed that! ☹️ Sorry Rachel, I hope some oiling brings the snap back🤞
An excellent pair :)

Oh, please don't apologize! The little pen blade doesn't snap shut, but it stays closed when pushed, so it's perfectly usable. I'll see what it's like once I've flushed out 100 year's worth of grime. ;) 👍

The last of my top ten stockman knives that I'm carrying this week.
Rough Rider stag medium stockman that's built very similarly to the Uncle Henry 897UH I extolled earlier this week - such a slender, smooth profile:
stagmed.pile.3open.1.jpg

Chinese Schrade 61OT, a 4" closed stockman with rounded bolsters; I think its official name was Slim Premium Stockman. It's long, lean, and lovely:

Bonus shot of a sowbelly stockman that SHOULD be in my Top10, but for various reasons I couldn't make room for it. This Black Box Winchester is an awesome sowbelly, despite my flawed ranking efforts:
