Haha I did! That’s honest, user’s patina, and I don’t think it’s boring. I think one can usually tell a working patina from a fancy pants pretty one.
Yes, it certaibly is! I’ll be totin’ it for awhile, I think, because every night, when I clean and oil my totes, I see no need to choose something different.
Hey ~ did you know I was on the Design Team for that knife?![]()
Oh it’s definitely user patina, I guess I was just surprised how quickly it appeared. My wife’s favorite and most used kitchen knife is an Old Hickory Kephart style knife that I bought couple years ago, and it took months to start to show a noticeable patina…and occasionally it’s neglected. That’s honest, user’s patina, and I don’t think it’s boring. you want color?Same knife as yesterday, but I thought I’d share something that surprised me as I’ve never seen a patina develop so quickly. The boss brought everyone sandwiches and potato salad for a crew meeting. I grabbed a ham and cheese along with a couple of those little Heinz mustard packets. There was nothing to spread the mustard, so I used my Johnny on the Spot. I sat the knife down while I ate my sandwich (10 minutes time), picked the knife up to wipe the blade with a moist towelette, and this is what I found…
I’ve forced a patina before, but never has it developed so quickly…evidently those little Heinz packets are the key to a rapid change lol, I’m just disappointed. I want some color and not this accidental, dark, blotchy, and boring look.
Congratulations!Today's carry.

It's sort of weird to have a knife again. We just spent 2 weeks in the hospital where @MrsR&T had an emergency c-section and at just under 34 weeks along a 4lb 2.1oz baby boy. He'll have to stay in NICU for several weeks before going home with his adoptive parents. We're visiting regularly and will be a part of his life.

Thank you for this.
That’s a beauty! My old Cattaraugus Carpenters Whittler is riding in my watch pocket today.
I expect it is at least as old as me ................................ and after looking in the mirror, I think it has weathered those years quite a bit better than I have. Still snappy and spunky.

Yay!I managed to convince a fella who never sells his knives to trade my Buck 110 pro I sold him many years ago. I regretted it afterwards. Got it back today.. feels good!

Thanks Mr P, the wood came from a wildlife reserve!I see critters in that lamb's wood covers Mr. Jack. Maybe an Antelope's head or something like it? Ohh no, not again.Beautiful wood !
ThanksWow! Nice one, Jack. Is that ironwood?

PERFECT - Pretty Excellent Really For Every Cutting Task!...
I bought this because it was the perfect knife. I should carry it a bit.

That's why I carry my knives for a week at a time before rotating to a new set of knives for the next week. I enjoy spending more "quality time" with the knives than one-day-at-a-time gives me.Nice couple of knives you’re totin’. Don’t be afraid to string a few days together without a daily change (and show them here, of course).
I’ve been doing that lately, and I seem to appreciate what I have a little more.
Congrats on the COVID recovery, Jack!...
I'm glad to be over my Covid now, and going to be carrying these two tomorrow![]()

It will be switched out for the 2009 charcoal wood 305 when it arrives sometime at the end of the week.
Like the Ettrick photography capturing knife and antler, Bart!I carried my ettrick today and found this pretty nice antler. Wish I would have seen the buck.

Admirable pair of stag mini trappers, José!
Sorry you had that song inflicted on you!I didn’t know who Muskrat Sally and Muskrat Sam were until I joined this forum. I had to go look up the lyrics once I started liking the pattern!
Ever since I got re-interested in pocketknives almost 9 years ago, I've been eating far more fresh fruits and vegetables than I used to!I guess it is kind of weird looking. Cauliflower does look like something you’d ask the doctor to remove!
It has been a very good year for it in my garden, though…
Eat your vegetables!

Two excellent knives, Jeff!Have a great day. Going to have to move the two big potted plants back inside after their summer in the front perennial patch. Likely have a frost coming.
The knowledge of that makes me appreciate what warm days we still have…View attachment 1950328View attachment 1950330
