What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Staying home today. Gotta get ready to go for a checkup at my Oncologist tomorrow to see how my jaw and neck are coming along. I'm carrying my new "Short Bolster" (my description) Jack Knife today and most likely will tomorrow. Cindy has set out Corn Beef Hash for breakfast. If I don't leave a post tomorrow morning, I'll catch y'all Tuesday.

All the best tomorrow, Ed … sending prayers and smoke …

Trying to do some catching up in this thread. Most of the quotes included below were winners of my personal "best post on the page" contest for pages from Sunday through Tuesday last week.

Thought I’d go with a couple of barlows today😗 *

Jeff, you're kind of a troublemaker! o_O 🤓
I enjoyed a couple of stories you included in that post, too, especially the one about why you abandoned "modern" knives.

Moki ….I think it is called the Meek these days. I bought this over 30 years ago and despite some clumsy use and sharpening it is still every bit as good today as it was then. I am a definite fan of these knives.
I think the handle is something a bit exotic like Quince ….

That's a very handsome Moki!! Whatever they call it, I'd probably classify it as a Barlow variant.:cool::thumbsup:

Carried a couple of my work knives today but did not get a picture of them together so I will post some older photos of each

This one currently has more patina

Couple of appealing work knives, Harry!:cool::cool:

That was an exciting pictorial "short story" about your grand old JJ Martinez!!:thumbsup::cool:
I admired your first post. My heart ached when I saw your next post. Then "my heart soared like an eagle" when I saw your photo of the excellent repair you did!

Always a treat to see Janus Kutmaster!:thumbsup:🤓

Cleaning out my folks home as we moved them to assisted living a few months back. They had bought this hand carved mask 55+ yrs ago. The eye's and teeth are supposedly Ivory. as a mischievous child I removed a couple of his front teeth

I'm pretty sure he had never been dusted/cleaned the entire time he hung in our house. I spent quite a bit of time using assorted brushes, warm water and compressed air to restore his fierce appearance and had Lyle's famers jack help in the process.

We are trying to divvy up what's sentimental among family and friends and what an emotional journey it is:) I happen to love this guy, yet my wife wants him no where in our home:(

If you can't have it in your house, Paul, how about in your vehicle?
Is it too big to hang from your rear-view mirror? Maybe you can mount it in the back window. Or "laminate" it and bring back hood ornaments.
Too cool not to display somewhere!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’ve got these two with me today.

While I was trying to get a (different) photo with the leaves in the background, I tripped and fell stepping over a low garden wall we have in front of the house and bashed my shin/knee on the concrete block. I dropped the knife and my phone (thankfully neither were damaged). My knee isn’t feeling too great at the moment, but I think it’ll be alright, just a bit scraped up and bruised. And of course the photo I was trying to get didn’t even work out. 🙄
Couple of nice knives, Barrett!:cool::thumbsup:
Glad there wasn't too much damage due to your knife photo mishap. I wonder how many "accidents" have occurred to BF members during knife photo sessions? I know I've cut myself at least a couple of times, and also dropped/scuffed up at least one knife while trying to set up a photo. I'm afraid health insurance providers may start adding a "penalty" to insurance premiums for BF members!

Today? and yesterday... my new-to-me chestnut bone trapper, in CV, along with the swayback in chestnut and CV....

That's a lovely pair of knives; congrats on the new trapper!:cool::thumbsup:
I think I have 8 different models of chestnut jigged bone CV Case knives, my favorite Case handle. I'm not much of a fan of full-sized trappers, but I think my admiration for chestnut bone covers is going to overcome my dislike for trappers, and I'll end up getting one like yours. ;)

Todays tools of the day for working outside . Still doing the same amount of work outside , it just takes more time for me to do it .

It looks like the Great Crane Migration is underway .

And across the road was even more . This less than half of what were in that field .

I can relate to your comment about taking more time to get jobs done than it used to, Harry!
I imagine a field full of sand hill cranes can get quite noisy!

Toting these two Robeson jacks today. :)
I enjoy it when you rock the Robesons, JJ!:cool::cool:
Didn't The Beatles have a song about "Strawberry Knives Forever"?

Notable pair of small stag beauties, José!:thumbsup::cool:

Have a good day everyone

Couple of iconic knives, Jack!:thumbsup::cool:
What's the object marked "Indianapolis, Ind" under your stag HHB? My wife was raised in Indianapolis.
