What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Just arrived, I used my new to me very old Barlow to open the parcel, that tip is perfect for the job.

I was trying to trade a knife on facebook for one of these

Someone said he would buy my knife at the same price one was being sold at so I could buy this Barlow.

It was an extremely generous gesture, I have sent him an extra knife as a thank you.

I can see why people become collectors its a stunner, the action is so smooth,I cant pinch it but dont need to it opens very easy.

Here are 4 Barlow sizes for comparison,on paper its hard to see the difference you need them in hand.

The 86 is most definitely the choice for hard use,I wanted this for pocket carry that was more obvious legal (to anyone looking on) in England while still having a good size of blade.

I am very pleased with it.

I enjoy a decent Penknife and some decent Acrylic where no Tortoise/Turtle was indecently harmed in the process ...

Thanks Pete, back at ya buddy :)
😁 I don't know which is worse, Jack, using the wrong name intentionally (as I sometimes do), or doing it unintentionally (as so many of us do at least occasionally).
LOL! :D I'm getting terrible Gary, my mate came over from Poland about 6 months back, and I spent 10 minutes calling his son Jack, who is named for me, 'Thomas'!  :D
That's a distinctive 3-blade Klein!:cool::thumbsup: Nice lanyard, too!! On vacation this summer, I found an old book about knots, and this was one of the many illustrations:

That's a very cool lanyard! Looks pretty hard to tie!

My first full size Victorinox in years. Thin edge, good pull and action, and in think the gold/brass on red looks great. Feels like logos are printed so will probably wear off eventually, but will only be an occasional carry so not too quick. I like the slight texturing on the plastic too. Haven't tried a chisel ground knife, put a micro bevel on the back side and stropped and it feels very sharp

That’s one of my favorite gardening knives.
Point of trivia which may be totally uninteresting…

The chisel grind is for pruning tender plants. The flat side goes against the stem, and the beveled side faces out. The flat side tends to not crush the tiny capillaries as a beveled blade can. And that allows them to heal better. It’s all I use early in the season when removing suckers from tomato plants.
Although the colour of the beard has washed out in the real 1😂😊
Beards can go gray, but hopefully you still have those impressive choppers! 😁
Modified the Buck 55 slightly
Lightly ground a blade choil, using a Dremel cut off wheel
Didn't like the uneven color of the handle
Used a small butane torch to evenly darken and add texture to the handle
No regrets ... made it mine

Once it’s been done, no regrets is the place to be.

Your Sheffield Jack is bunnyish…

Beautiful knife Dan, I can almost smell the bread. 😎👍
Thanks Todd :)
Superb this bread. It must have been good.
Nice picture
Merci ! :)
I really like that species. Of all the ones around my place, they are the most friendly/least skittish. I had one working over a sunflower flower head yesterday, while I was only six or seven feet away.
Gracias amigo :)
They are the always the highlight of our walks when we go to the bird sanctuary.

Toting my Grohmann slimline :) today that I got at their factory in Pictou, Nova Scotia. It is a "seconds" I got for 1/2 the price.

Here it is posing with a vase decorated with chickadees that RayseM RayseM gifted my wife when he came over for our trip on the Rideau.

For the nearly three weeks we've been on the road after evacuating Ian, I've carried my old Fight'n Rooster stag stockman and an SAK.

The youngest students I ever taught were apprentices Todd, but I was an under-14's youth worker, as well as a father of 3 girls, so I know what you mean! :D ;)

Klein and Wenger Handyman. I bought this Klein work knife several years ago just for fixing up fun. It was a hawkbill that had been used extremely hard, probably served an electrician or plumber, and cut a lot of drywall. Badly sharpened and ground on, enough that it was no longer much of a hawkbill. I re-ground it into a straight blade, aiming for something close to a sheepfoot.
Great hard use knife, just try to remember not to close the blade on the big floppy shackle.84F3A23D-1DA8-4099-AE58-7D599120D719.jpeg95BA1DE8-B144-4AF9-8D0E-74ABF68C77F3.jpeg872EEAB8-058C-41D8-9AEB-F15602D74B79.jpeg
And yes, the CBK is still on me😜
