Holy Toledo! Those are a coupe of awesome Spanish Slicers!I've never eaten salamanders, but I do have a couple of knives made in Spain by a company named Salamandra, and I like the knives very much!

JJ, as I was "speed-scrolling" through BF recently, I caught a glimpse of your lightning-struck big S&M, and a song I hadn't thought of in over 50 years came to mind. Paraphrasing the lyrics a bit,
'Cause your knife is better than any knife I know.
It's like thunder, lightnin'
Your big Barlow is frightenin'.
I better knock on wood.
Here's a low-quality video of the song, but I like it because it's from the era when the song was first a hit (1966) and shows mainstream America getting on the soul train.
Thank you for your kind words, Jack!!!![]()

Many thanks JJ, I love those black jacks
Very generous giftsI switched up to this Lambsfoot in horn and this S.E. Oates &. Son baby Barlow, after lunch today. The Baby Barlow measures 2 & 7/8ths" closed. Both were gifts from Old Engineer a while back and while I thanked him personally, I don't believe I have ever posted both of the knives at the same time. Thank you again Harry and I appreciate the confidence you have in me for "looking after" your little Barlow.

You are very welcome my friend . I knew they would be very well cared for . Your photo skills make them look better than I ever could .I switched up to this Lambsfoot in horn and this S.E. Oates &. It was great to hear from you today Jeff !!!! As I told you , I have not been posting very much lately because I have been carrying the same knife or knives basically every day . It just happens to be one that Half/Stop Ron gave to me and it is an excellent knife to handle what I do and I really like that I can pinch it open and has a straight edged blade . It is on the hood of the tractor that I took the deck off of and sharpened the blades , cleaned and grease the bearings , and then attached the collector system to it . Still have to put on the discharge turbo and chute . Now I am basically pick up leaves if necessary .Thanks! I highly recommend you searching one out.
It’s one of two I have. I’d admired one that @TheChunk91 had shown here, a Schrade made Craftsman. And he encouraged me to look for one. Then, he sent me a link to one for sale on the ‘bay, and I snapped it up.
But this Schrade is a special one to me. A couple of years ago, we were visiting our Granddaughters down in Georgia, and Ron, aka: @Half/Stop, called and invited us to meet him and his wife for breakfast on our way home. So we met at a Cracker Barrel in Tennesse, My wife and daughter hit it off with Pam and Ron, and we got caught up on things since we’d last met up with @OldEngineer at the Badger Knife Show. As we said goodbye, and broke the covid rules to shake hands, he pressed the 804 into my hand. It was only a few weeks later that he went home to the Lord. Great guy, much loved here on the Porch, and I wish I’d gotten to know him better.
Thanks for the informative reply, Barrett.I'm not familiar enough with the Bull Nose to recognize that the handle had been modified.
I enjoy a decent Penknife and some decent Acrylic where no Tortoise/Turtle was indecently harmed in the process ...

I carried an Opinel 8 as my daily EDC for a year or so a while back. Every time I end up carrying this, I wonder why I even have any other pocket knives. Super slicey blade; ergonomic handle that, due to all the roundness, rides in a pocket really well; extremely lightweight; simple and reliable lock (mostly useful for keeping it closed in the pocket, and if you remember to use it open it works great, but you don't need it). At this point I would be sad to not have my other knives, but an Opinel 8 really is a great knife.
My Proper is unimpressed with all that, and insisted on coming along, "just in case". Glad to have you, Proper, glad to have you.

I agree with all you said about the No. 8 and when I carry mine, have similar feelings. A lot of bang for the buck !I bought one, now have ten.
Only need one.
I looked at 110s at the knife show I had forgotten just how heavy they where.
Thanks, Barrett.Micarta covers had really never appealed to me very much, but after getting that #72 in hand, my opinion of micarta has skyrocketed.

I feel yer pain, but the dentist is better than digging it out yourself with the can opener on your Boy Scout Knife.
Beautiful weather in store for a few days here. I said “few”, to remind me to make the most of it.View attachment 1964496

My parents had decided on naming their first son David. Since I was first born, that should have been me, but there was a neighborhood "Dennis the Menace" named David when I was born. My folks couldn't bring themselves to name me David. So I got named Gary! Seven years later they'd forgotten about "David the Menace" and my brother got My name!
Life just ain't fair!![]()

I've been looking for 72 LB with a spear and in jigged bone for I can't tell ya how long. I know they've been around every now and then, but they've either been out of my price range or someone beat me to it. Well, I finally got one and it just came in the mail today!!

Gary, I don't recall seeing your "scary knife" for awhile. Maybe you could post it soon with Halloween closing in!
- GT
I decided to switch it up and got a few new pics. Here's an EDC from Burt Foster, 01/15N20 Random pattern Damascus and California Buckeye Burl. Some scary stuff!

Great photo of the mini copperhead, Gary. Looks like it came from a catalog. I love the red shield, too.I'll post the final 2 of my 10 favorite Case knives that I've been totin' since Monday.
I think this mini copperhead with blue jigged bone covers, red shield, and stainless wharncliffe/pen blade combo is maybe the prettiest knife I own (or maybe it's just the best/luckiest knife photo I've ever taken)
