What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Keen Kutter Barlow that was illustrated in the 1899 and 1917 catalogs .................... and the same Schrade Cut. Co. Barlow I carried yesterday, in a new picture, with the last of my Yoshino Cherry tree leaves. I did some leaf blowing and cleanup Monday, but, still a few leaves left on my trees. Off to the market for re-stocking this morning. Have a fine Thursday ! 😊

The clip shape and swedge on the KK is so good. Such a soulful knife!

This one sure has been a pocket hog this week! Got to be one of the most beautiful overhauls I’ve seen. Not just the burl, but the added work on the bolsters is a must to set off such a stunning piece of wood.

And it can open your IPA. What else does a dude need?

Where was this one made ? Pretty sure I haven’t heard of JJ Martine before ,,,,very nice

Spain near Ciudad Real. I have quite a few & visited the workshop where two brothers work.
This particular knife was from a flea market & was in a terrible state, but even brand new knives need “finishing” in my opinion, they can be a little rough, but for what they sell them for you can’t expect lots of time to be spent on each knife.

This week I'm carrying my knives with lambsfoot blades. I don't have enough of them to choose a Top Ten, so I'm totin' all of them. Here are the two I have with rosewood covers.

Beautiful and Useful Lambs, GT. 🤠

Classic spear blade👌
Nice. There’s always some thought, dare I say artistic sensibility, that goes into our knife photos. This pic of yours reminds me of something that pops into my head ~ which blade goes on top? Does it signify anything? Is it an eenymeenymineymo looking for randomeness? I need to refill my coffee cup.
Che Chen Rosewood today

Cool knife! And I love the old log in the process of returning to the soil.
Same thing I said about Jeremy’s spear blade.
I dig that TL29 too Jeff ! 😍

You could sell them torn up jeans to some of these youngsters. I hear they pay big money for jeans like that. Might get you two or three nice pocket knives. ;)🤣
Thanks, Mr Rob!
I buy all my jeans (actally, ALL of my clothes, even the Harris Tweed sports jacket I wear at weddings and funerals), mostly Wranglers at seconhand shops. Usually about $9.00, and usually close to new. And I do tear them up. The holes are always in the same places ~ the knees from kneeling in the garden, and in front of the pocket from totin knives.
The fake reliced jeans the kids buy all have holes in places where holes never happen🤪.
I’m visualizing a day when a few of us porch dwellers can get around a fire with some good beverages, joined by the author of this calendar to make us laugh, knowing that none of us really graduated past our middle school humor sensibilities. I would enjoy that group 😂. Oh yeah, and there would be fine knives of course.
I’ve had the great fortune of meeting some BF friends in person, thanks to Harry Old Engineer Old Engineer , and yes. It’s a great time. The beverage of choice has always been coffee, though.
There’s a certain honesty in carrying just one knife, and an SAK will do just fine.
I looked up JJ Martine on google, and got some unrelated results.

Gorgeous knives and pics as always.
American Shear. I love your skill at finding these beautiful and rare oldies, Rachel.

Thanks. I was curious.

Checking out some of my red oaks I planted from acorns with a No.7, and Schrade Walden.
If you look at the hawkbill closely, you can see where some moron ran a Dremel wheel all over the side of the blade. I should fix that. But for now, it’s razor sharp, and does the job.39490405-D424-4AFF-80EF-E6C14ED119E2.jpegC7B19CC8-25BE-4869-A06D-2AA91332FD39.jpeg27769D9D-D05F-43E4-8F81-990DB25B8AE1.jpeg

These two again today. Have a great Thursday!

I could be content with only those two for a long time, great pairing Jon!
