What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Gorgeous pair!
Thank you! My Dad has carried an 885UH for as long as I can remember. He snapped the main blade at some point a long time ago - so long that he doesn't remember how it happened. He reground it back into a point and put it back in his pocket. He lost it recently and I replaced it for him with the one in the pic. Then my Mom found his old one under the couch and he gave this one back to me - Haha. He would rather carry his old broken one than this minty one.

I think of the Camp knife as sort of a Missing Link. When I first came across knives wirh only the tang stamp HIGH CARBON, I had to figure out who made them, and for whom. I eventually found that HIGH CARBON was the brand carried by Sears, and they were made for them by Camillus during the Baer era. (When Mr. Baer acquired Schrade, Schrade became the Sears supplier ~ their relationship was with him more than the brand. Same with Ulster made Craftsman knives)
I’d thought HIGH CARBON was their pre-Craftsman knife brand. The Camp Knife must have been a transitional knife, because it has the old HIGH CARBON tang stamp, and a CRAFTSMAN blade etch.13FB0560-1C92-4ACC-80B6-4EF161F66BE6.jpeg
The other knife is an ebony scaled large jack.61616C2D-D578-4C7D-B85B-FC16EAABE191.jpeg
It has a lot of blade wear, which caused a previous owner to gouge out easy open notches. They are undortunatly quite crude, but they work. All I could do with them was partially make them a little more symetrical and polish them a bit.99A1F6B3-5FA5-4618-9782-74E5A6C0FBEE.jpeg
Another one that I tried to identify. It’s tang stamp is EAGLE PHILA.

I found that EAGLE was a small short lived company made up of ex employees of NYKC. They acquired factory seconds from NYKC, and in most cases, ground off the tang, and restamped them.
It’s a favorite because I like large jacks, and it’s a hard use knife that takes and holds a scary sharp edge.

Have a good week folks!
Carrying my Eureka Jack today. Pocket knife perfection (PKP) :D ;)!

We've all heard of Snow Bunnies and last night we had about six inches of Snow Bunnies pass through Alturas. Not to worry. We got plenty of gas and groceries last week but now it's time to go out and face the Snow Bunnies face on and shovel and plow their little butts off the sidewalks, driveway, and parking area. To help me in this "Repel Boarders" exercise, I'm gonna tote my Bunny Knife. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

Great break down on these two. The shield on this Craftsman has got to be one of the coolest ever for a camp knife.

Man, that 25 checks all the boxes! Beautiful stag, sheeps foot, long pull, ringed bolsters, EO cut out … 😍😍
Wow, that's some cool stag. 🤠
Thanks guys. It’s one of my favorite knives that I have. 👍
Two beauties Bart. 😎👍
Thanks, Todd.
Let the week begin whether we wanted it to or not.View attachment 1981291
I really like that stag spearpoint. It was hard to resist on the exchange a while back.
Have a good week folks!

I agree with the pocket knife perfection. I’m carrying mine today as well.

Nooooo. That looks fine to me.

Who really knows what that knife will end up looking like when it is finished ? Not me. I might put it in the Opinel drawer for a while and ponder on it. 😊

Leaves have fallen, Acorns too..

I like the wooden one the best . ................... imagine that !😍😊

Two great knives and the display is excellent.

Thank you Mr. Rufus !😊

Why yes it is...I have visited long enough and did not want to be rude.
I am slowly learning names.

It wouldn't be rude to not use your real name. There are non-member lurkers out there, one must remember. I like nick names, myself. ;)😊
