Thank you! My Dad has carried an 885UH for as long as I can remember. He snapped the main blade at some point a long time ago - so long that he doesn't remember how it happened. He reground it back into a point and put it back in his pocket. He lost it recently and I replaced it for him with the one in the pic. Then my Mom found his old one under the couch and he gave this one back to me - Haha. He would rather carry his old broken one than this minty one.Gorgeous pair!
Thank you! Your submission today is top notch as well.Another striking capture! Lovely warm handles on those two.
You guys are slaying it today!

Great break down on these two. The shield on this Craftsman has got to be one of the coolest ever for a camp knife.Totin two well broken in knives today ~ View attachment 1981360
I think of the Camp knife as sort of a Missing Link. When I first came across knives wirh only the tang stamp HIGH CARBON, I had to figure out who made them, and for whom. I eventually found that HIGH CARBON was the brand carried by Sears, and they were made for them by Camillus during the Baer era. (When Mr. Baer acquired Schrade, Schrade became the Sears supplier ~ their relationship was with him more than the brand. Same with Ulster made Craftsman knives)
I’d thought HIGH CARBON was their pre-Craftsman knife brand. The Camp Knife must have been a transitional knife, because it has the old HIGH CARBON tang stamp, and a CRAFTSMAN blade etch.View attachment 1981359
The other knife is an ebony scaled large jack.View attachment 1981358
It has a lot of blade wear, which caused a previous owner to gouge out easy open notches. They are undortunatly quite crude, but they work. All I could do with them was partially make them a little more symetrical and polish them a bit.View attachment 1981361
Another one that I tried to identify. It’s tang stamp is EAGLE PHILA.
View attachment 1981362
I found that EAGLE was a small short lived company made up of ex employees of NYKC. They acquired factory seconds from NYKC, and in most cases, ground off the tang, and restamped them.
It’s a favorite because I like large jacks, and it’s a hard use knife that takes and holds a scary sharp edge.
Man, that 25 checks all the boxes! Beautiful stag, sheeps foot, long pull, ringed bolsters, EO cut out …![]()
Thanks guys. It’s one of my favorite knives that I have.Wow, that's some cool stag.![]()

Why yes it is...I have visited long enough and did not want to be rude.I see you’ve signed this post “Bob”. May I be nosy and ask if that’s your real name?
Nooooo. That looks fine to me.
Leaves have fallen, Acorns too..
