What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

If there was a theory behind this combination, I don't remember it.

This lighter is the only thing of my paternal grandfathers that I have, my father gave it to him sometime in the 60's to the best of anyone's memories. He used it everyday.
Along with my favorite Dixie.

I never knew Dad’s Dad, sadly, but I do have a small number of his tools. Most recently was this spring. I’d taken a couple of tomato plants down to their house to plant for them. As I was using his old D handle tile spade, I asked if that had belonged to his Dad. He said “I believe so. Why don’t you take it?”
Supposed to be in the seventies today, then a cold front is coming through and the highs will only be in the forties all next week. Then I'll be heading to Tennessee for Thanksgiving (my gosh, where did the year go?) Predicting teens Saturday night 🥶

So, I'm going to take this Electrician and head out for a scooter ride. Run some gas preservative through it, come back and pull the battery.

Exact same thoughts here, as I sweat in a tee shirt thinking “Enjoy it today”.
Need to winterize aome 2 stroke equipment, and remember to unscrew the hoses. I forgot last year, and had some plumbing work to do down in the crawlspace.

Yikes, Jeff - that sure sounds like a case of "when it rains, it pours" when it comes to home maintenance! :eek:o_O
The first photo of your stockman has me curious. Does it have 4 blades? I think I see 2 tangs at each end (but I'm prone to hallucinations). And what is the blade with the zig-zaggy spine on the far right in the photo? (For that matter, what's the blade on the far left, if there actually is a blade outside the clip in that direction?)

Yes, it has four blades. Clip, sheepsfoot, and spey, as well as the leather punch. That’s the one with the fancy spiral cut on the back. I think that, as well as the coined liner on the back means it was what they called “Premium Stockman”.

Camillus No.1, and High Carbon.

The hawk’s blade is 100% earned patina from my various garden plants. I always wipe the blade on my jeans after a cut, and at the end of the day, wipe it with a small drop of Norton’s, so that is not rust you see there. 🤓

The spiral punch and the coined liner pretty much makes that a premium, at least in my book ! 😍 Your second set of knives looks like you hit "watercolor" .......... kind of neat !

Setting a trap for whatever decided to live nder my porch again. I tried a hotdog last night and managed to catch my neighbors partially feral cat. The game warden suggested trying cucumbers and lettuce as he bets it's a groundhog or a armadillo so we'll try that.

I'm going to try carrying this copperhead for a week. It's a weird one for me, on paper it's close to a perfect pattern, but I've never quite clicked with it, so I'm going to give it a try.

What brand is that? I want to say it's camillus but I don't see any markings

Cool cap there with your Barlow buddy :)
Stunning pics
My latest acquisition and my first old Lambsfoot. It is was made by John Blyde, Sheffield. The seller’s photos were awful and when it arrived someone had decided to take a Dremel or worse to the blade and so it took some effort to remove the gouges. Absolutely my new pocket favorite - rock solid blade, centered with great snap and lovely age to the scales. I haven’t done any homework on the interweb re it’s possible age but if anyone out there has a guesstimate I would love to know….

Thanks Jack and double down on the thanks for the info you provided on John Blyde in the Guardians thread. I am getting the hang of restoration at the cleaning, buffing and sharpening level but mending wobbly blades and a complete tear down of a knife is still beyond me.
