What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I just posted this pic, but I'll go ahead and post it again because it's what I'm carrying today! Great knife. The pic is from when it was a newborn. It has a nice patina on it now.

Today I'm back to my GEC muskrat. This thing has some of the oogliest stag I have ever seen, but I love it anyway.

Actually, the stag on the other side is pretty nice.

Moonwilson, I think the stag is pretty nice looking.

Yes there is deeper stag with more popcorn than Edards Cinema but your's has it's own beauty to it.

hlee - That is one fine knife :)

Hlee- zoinks! That is one mighty fine #73. Mighty fine indeed. I shouldn't have looked at those pictures. It's going to be very hard not to track down and acquire one of those now. My other #73s are suddenly very lonely. :D

Tostiq- I agree. There is plenty of deeply-rutted, gnarly stag out there- but the piece on the front scale of my GEC muskrat is unique. I was disappointed when it first arrived- so much so that I briefly considered sending it back (it wasn't cheap) but I decided to keep it anyway, and now I'm glad that I did. It's unique- it has personality. I have some knives with pretty stag on them that have all of the personality of a wet turnip. This GEC feels great in the hand, and there's something fascinating about the top scale. It actually looks better now (as shown in the pic) when I got it, it was much lighter, and had this weird texture to it- kind of like sappy wood. I hit that sucker with a flame and gave it some burn- and did a bad job of it. You can see in the bottom right corner where I burnt it too much. That was me, not the factory. It's a great knife- and has probably seen more pocket time than any of my other GECs. The springs are dead-on perfect, not too hard to open, but they SNAP open good and hard. So much so, that the knife will get away from me if I'm not careful opening it.

I feel ya , I overburnt one of my Toothpicks scales a tad and got sorta bummed until I decided to make it parts of it's purtyness :D
You both have some beautiful knives though.

Last night I opened my Case case and noticed my Muskrat. I have not carried it for a while. And not taken pics in a while. I really need to take some better ones. Anyway I decided to pull it out and carry it for a while. And of course I had to carry my favorite Canoe.

Sorry the Muskrat pic is so big. I will have to shrink it down.

You guys are killing me. :( I do not have a muskrat yet. I have went after a few auction but was outbid, and then stopped. I really want an Old Timer muskrat, but would not balk at a Queen or a Case either. I have to confess, (do not be too hard on me), my last 2 knives were a Benchmade Griptilian, and a Kershaw Cyclone flipper, but I am back. The prodigal son has returned. Just so my redemption is hastened, those were both plain edge.:o

Don't feel to bad cj... I think we have all stepped over to the other side of the fence at one time or another. Only to find out that it is not as friendly :D

Don't worry about it cj. My wife carries a pink ritter mini griptilian in her pursue. Real good knives but nothing like the feel of a good slipjoint. I've seen a few canoes recently that I gotta carry my Queen Cozy Glen one today.

Tex,
That is a real beauty. Nice pics as well. You always bring the beauty out of the knives in your pics. Great job.

My Muskrat came shaving sharp, both blades, from the box. Gotta love that.

Yes you do. I've come across a few "modern" slippies that have taken some WORK!

FINALLY got these two sharp!:

Dug around again some a little more down into the cratage and found the following.. :) Will carry her tomorrow for the first time ever. It feels good to have a mate to alternate with the red one.. Now, if I can only find one with white jigged bone..

:D

I've been carrying my case trapper cv. I love it except how easily it rusts. I've been oiling regularly but it still has a few spots on it.

Man thats 2 Cozy Glen Canoes on the same page...gotta get me one of them!!! :D Hey Tex what scales are on yours?
