Hlee- zoinks! That is one mighty fine #73. Mighty fine indeed. I shouldn't have looked at those pictures. It's going to be very hard not to track down and acquire one of those now. My other #73s are suddenly very lonely.
Tostiq- I agree. There is plenty of deeply-rutted, gnarly stag out there- but the piece on the front scale of my GEC muskrat is unique. I was disappointed when it first arrived- so much so that I briefly considered sending it back (it wasn't cheap) but I decided to keep it anyway, and now I'm glad that I did. It's unique- it has personality. I have some knives with pretty stag on them that have all of the personality of a wet turnip. This GEC feels great in the hand, and there's something fascinating about the top scale. It actually looks better now (as shown in the pic) when I got it, it was much lighter, and had this weird texture to it- kind of like sappy wood. I hit that sucker with a flame and gave it some burn- and did a bad job of it. You can see in the bottom right corner where I burnt it too much. That was me, not the factory. It's a great knife- and has probably seen more pocket time than any of my other GECs. The springs are dead-on perfect, not too hard to open, but they SNAP open good and hard. So much so, that the knife will get away from me if I'm not careful opening it.
