I’ve noticed a few of your walking sticks in your posts. Actually it’s not blackthorn; it’s pear. I cut them, hang them for at least a year, straighten them the best I can, and work them into walking sticks. I then finish them with black enamel paint and polyurethane. I think they make a “decent” substitute for blackthorn—-especially the ones with a lot of knuckles. I have a couple blackthorn sticks I really enjoy, but the shipping from Ireland to the US kills me.Nice.
Is that a bit of irish blackthorn as well?
