What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

There are so many exceptional knives shown on this site but that Catt whittler may be the most handsome knife seen by my eyes.:thumbsup:
Something about a sleeveboard pattern always appeals to me. Toss in great character bone with nice color, that shield and the blades
and you got a stunner. :)

I intended to respond to the following posts back on Christmas Eve, but for 2022, I've tended to be 2 days late and 2 dollars short.

Carrying 242, and I’m two for two with Black Friday knives. Have a great one!

I’ve added a helpful tip for all of us newby rabbit slayers. We will all need this wisdom at some point. Zoom in to the highlighted area for the real gold.

Edit: They do not specify whose urine to wash off of the meat…but I assume they mean the rabbit’s urine. But I’ll add, if any urine from any living being get’s on the meat…wash thoroughly 👌🏼.

I'll be totin' Peter Rabbit again today, which I am currently trying to work up the nerve to carve out it's new name. The picture is currently a concept picture of the bunny knife. I doubt I will really go through with it. 😉😊🐰
At first I thought you'd taken your Bunny Knife out to get a tattoo! 😲
But I guess you're still just contemplating at this point.

^ Ditto that. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas 🎄

Sweet seasonal shot, Tim! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

The festive green 5OT is a great choice!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

-6.6 seems cold for down south.

Makes you crazy, doesn't it, feeling stuff that isn't there.
It's taking me a while to steel myself to do Tibetan inner fire breathing, but I hope that will confound the neuropathy.

I thought the big and beat-up Schrade for the snow. A knife like that never gets lost.
I really like the round bolsters with the tasteful single line on that Schrade Lumberjack!:cool::thumbsup:
I finally bought a Chinese version of the 858OT last summer, and I'm very pleased with it!

Off work today and not doing much except watching the temperature fall on the thermometer, so these two should do fine——Imperial and Hammer Brand.

Thanks very much, really appreciate the kind words. You and your family have a great Christmas too Gary. 😎👍

Thanks Gary, I really like the Castle Burg Bokers. I wish he could’ve held on long enough to see his number retired and the Immaculate Reception celebration.
Thanks for the Christmas well-wishes, Todd. :) Because of the blizzard (and some car trouble), my daughter, her boyfriend, and her dog are here with us, even though there original plans were to drive back to the Twin Cities last Friday.
(If I had a Castle Burg Böker, I'm almost certain I'd slip up occasionally and call it a Castle Burger Böker, or even a White Castle Böker. )

...
Thanks, Gary. I like the equal end/cigar patterns, comfy in the hand and pocket.
I'm with you on that, Greg.:thumbsup::cool:
(Or maybe I like equal end patterns just because my first knife was a Colonial scout pattern.)

Gary I will wish you a Merry Christmas now, as I know we are entering the countdown.
Thanks, Bob. "Countdown" is a good term. Even though we didn't have big plans for Christmas Day, we still had a pretty busy day with 4 humans and 2 dogs! ;) (And we had our "official" gift exchange and Christmas meal a week ago, when we thought our daughter wouldn't be around for Christmas.)

We are kind of on the border of north and south. Sometimes in the winter, it will be warmer in upper Michigan than it is here. We never made it out of the minus zero's today. High temp was -2 degrees. It did feel really cold with the gusty winds ! Not many times will the high temp be under zero though. I can feel the drafts in the house. 🥶
I noticed during the blizzard, with high winds from the west blowing snow directly against our back door, that our storm door doesn't fit as tightly as I thought it did! Every time I took the dog out, I'd have to sweep out snow that gathered between the storm door and the inside back door. :(

Thank Gary and Merry Christmas !
Hope you had a good one, Steve!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs Thank you, it's a very satisfying knife in the hand, like many French knives. Big Sheepfoot like you say and similar to your own Barrel knife from Le Sabot. Not expensive yet the F&F is good, the etch GR Gouttière has disappeared due to my patina militancy. The stamped face is I believe, meant to denote Old School carbon knives- les couteaux de nos grand pères- grandad knives. Some old codger face in a hat and beard. Not sure I altogether go along with this...mine were both born in the c19th :D

GR cutlery is long established I believe and might have a connexion with Gilles Reynewater? Perhaps @Jolipapa can give us the facts in the case? Knives-of-France Knives-of-France might be able to shed light and perhaps be able to supply you with a Gouttière (Gutter) pattern, they're not that common though.

Here's another Gouttière, this time in Horn and a welcome&unexpected present from @Corto_Malt :cool:

Thanks for your detailed and informative reply, Will.:cool::thumbsup: Those "gutter" pattern knives certainly look capable of work. Do you know if the name come from the "gutters" in the bolster? I think I saw at least one example of this pattern at Knives-of-France Knives-of-France that I can contemplate making mine.

Bob, that photo with your "flaming" stag reminded me of the old Christmas song, by Nat King Cole I think, that starts "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...":cool::thumbsup:

Oh no...the next time I carry it I will have that song bouncing around between my ears.
I hope you enjoyed your Christmas.

I should think that that knife with full blades and real pins would be very nice.

The deep freeze is over here, 26 degrees this morning so I thought I’d light up a cigar and use my new bourbon and cigar board. It’s made from a barrel stave, and my daughter picked it up when she was on the bourbon trail a few weeks ago. It came with a nice glass wrapped in a leather sleeve, a little too early for bourbon though. 😉👍C283F6B3-2141-426C-842F-2028AC276D8E.jpeg😎👍

Awesome pic Harry!
I gave my 6 year old grandson his first knife yesterday, an Official Cub Scout Knife (he is a cub scout). Under microscopic adult supervision, he still managed to cut his finger. So the knife went into his dad's pocket for the immediate future! He learned a valuable lesson, a little early I think. At least it wasn't a bad cut.
