Congrats on the enchanting ebony Ettrick, Bob, and accolades to Rob for sending it your way!

When I first stumbled across The Porch almost 9 years ago, I was totally astounded by the kindness, civility, thoughtfulness, knowledge, and generosity of the people who hung out here. Too good to be true, and it still seems that way, with very few exceptions. (Maybe most of us are really selfish, nasty scoundrels like we all encounter everywhere else, but Frank & Gary and "peer pressure" help us to put our best feet forward!

Buffalo and Cattle and Lambs - Oh My!

Sensational knives in and of themselves, Harry, and the sentimental value makes them sublime!

Well-said, LT, and splendid frosty fotos!

Is frost like that rare down in Louisiana?
Thanks for your Christmas color combos!

(And for the friendly Christmas kitten.

)
I appreciate your encouraging words, Bob.

I'm open to learning new tricks, I just can't guarantee that I'll remember them the next day.
Same to you, Mike!

And I have to thank you for your occasional poutine recommendations.

I was at a "French-themed" brewery last week for supper, and, based on your past comments/photos, opted for the "Daily Poutine" on the menu. It was very good (although the coddled egg on top took me way out of my comfort zone until I managed to stir it into everything else and out of sight

).
That's a great-looking knife, Mike!

I have a blue mini copperhead with red Case shield that I think is one of my most visually-appealing knives. I wonder if Case pays more attention to the bone dying and jigging on knives with the red shield?
Congrats on the impressive Christmas trio!

I don't think my Dad, or I as a dad, ever played with kids' Christmas toys in advance, but Dad sure was willing to play with our toys after we got them!
I still have the HO racing set my brothers and I got for Christmas in 1964, but it's in a box in my basement, waiting for my wife to grant me space to set it up to see if it still works. I've plugged in the transformer a couple of times over the years, and it smells the same.

That bony Catt is breathtaking!!

Thanks, Bob, and same to you! We had a fairly low-key Christmas, but that's always fine with me.
That knife has turned out to be quite a source of inspiration for your art this week!

I always forget that the original Old Timers had the strange construction.
Harry, I often say that I think the jigged bone Waynorth Cutlery lambsfoot when open may be the prettiest knife I've ever seen. But I'm glad to see that your descendant is not at all reluctant to make such a stunning knife into a user!

Magnificent matching micarta, Steve!

Congrats on the exquisite ebony lamb!
