What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you, sff.

Really enjoying everyone and going back to memories of my first pocket knife as a boy long ago. Carried it every day including to school as did most other boys from grade school on.

Was taking my youngest nephew hunting several weeks back.

He was looking over my various hunting knives and an old Kabar large hunting folder grabbed his interest. It belonged to my wife’s grandfather. He asked if he could have it, but she was not ready to let it go.

So, I started looking for one online for him.

The search for him rekindled my own interest in the knives I grew up with and admired, but mostly were out of reach.

Seeing some of the work being turned out today, these are the good old days.

Glad to be here and enjoying seeing these beautiful knives and the good company.

I gave him this small Kabar and found this large Kabar folder for him, just like the one he admired.

He “totes” the small Kabar 1186 after school. So this counts as his post in the what are you totin’ discussion.

We’ll give the big one to him when he goes hunting with me next fall.

That's really neat -- what you're doing for your nephew. As you say, these traditionals bring back all kinds of memories -- and, in that respect, they're more than "just" knives. Lots of nostalgia wrapped up in the bargain. Incidentally, I really like those Kabar's -- in particular, the large folding hunters are a force to be reckoned with! :)

Sounds like I need to find some seeds and grow a few plants. Thank you for the information

Awesome view my friend. Looks very relaxing

Sorry for the passing of your friend
Yes and the sounds of water rushing around the corner to say the least was therapeutic is an understatement.

A visit with my doctor requires a proper knife.
A doc knife and a Cattaraugus.View attachment 2060621
Your doctor’s knife ~ does it not have the long spetula blade for counting pills? Do not let him handle it because that long blade might encourage him to perform a procedure! 😳
That’s a gorgeous Catt, Bob.
Ok, my fellow Big Jack lover. You tote your new Westward Ho, and I’m going to tote a 23.
been totin these two pretty much all week... best pic yet

there's somethin' special about flat black ebony
and an Ambassador, Rambler or Classic should be in every gentlemen's daily kit ;)
That’s wise advice.
I always carry a backup keyring with a second car and house key a habit I enforced on myself after years of driving for work, sometimes in the hood. And I keep a Wenger Esquire on that keyring. Good for keeping my nails trimmed for guitar playing.
My 89 yr old Dad insists his Vic Classic is all he needs.
Arrived a couple of days ago and went into the pocket. First mini trapper for me. View attachment 2060658
Nice addition to your collection, my friend! 👌
After reading the sad news of the passing of Duane, I recalled his affection for fixed blade knives. I selected one of my own favorite fixed blades to carry for today, along with an older TC Barlow, which was all the rage when I first became acquainted with this fine porch member. R.I.P. my friend. 😢

Maybe I’ll swap the big Opinel for a fixed blade when I get home…

If your speaking about the top knife. While it has a longer bolster than a normal Jack Knife it's not long enough to be a true Barlow I'm my opinion. The seller calls it a Barlow but I don't. 🤠
Thank You. I still need to know more about those patterns :/

Got all my paper work - forms, instructions, etc. together yesterday to do our taxes. Looked at the pile and said; "the heck with it" and called the tax guy in town to make an appointment to have our taxes done so, we'll be off to see him in a short while. The only good thing that'll come out of this trip is lunch at the Wagon Wheel Cafe when we're done with the tax man. This Ebony two-blade Lambfoot is my choice for this excursion.
