What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

pertinux - Ha, ha. I was actually killing several birds with one stone; assessing area for fire risk and a potential controlled burn, assessing the condition of a raised bog and looking at the areas recovering from damage by illegal off-roading.

Ah-- thanks! :D

Even the camera is blue, who'd have thought ;). Little Harig is looking good (or whatever the name is, is it even possible to tell those little troublemakers apart? :D).

Two-for-two-- blue camera, and yes, that's Harig. :)

Stiddy and Pemberton are in the shadows of the previous picture.

(Knives and kittens can be difficult to photograph, even separately. Together? We get what we get.)

This is feather light. The opi saw a TON of work today. Mainly cutting plastics of varying thickness. It was nice to quietly watch my opi outperform fresh razor blade knives.

I got rid of my razor knife, and only carried my Opi, cut tons of R8 FSK insulation, closed cell insulation, Sheetrock, cement board, notched strapping, scraped mortar off bricks, even used it to start holes in 30g & 26g sheet metal fittings.
After years of constant edge touch ups multiple times a day

Love it Pete. I thought of you today at work actually. I remember a while back we were talking about you sharpening away so much blade and you explained why you had to because you needed NO chips. I had a few chips still in mine today from dropping it yesterday that I worked around. Still, when I got home today I got them out the rest of the way :)

I am going to play with swapping blades soon just so I can make an opi with a carbon blade and whatever handle.

Tom - love that easy open teardrop

Pete - great to see a well used opi

Kevin - looking forward to seeing some blade swaps and your thoughts on the process, thread....?:)

Cody with me again, after umming and aaing for a while I've ordered another one in Pomele wood for best. A decision helped after a long battle with a certain online retailer ended with them double refunding me. I feel I deserve it:D

Taking my 66 Jack for its first outing to Sheffield today, along with the pendant Gevonovich sent me, which is going to my grandaughter, together with some earrings for my daughter :)

Kevin---Can't wait to see the results, your work is worth waiting for

Pete, I did the same, guys at work are amazed that my edge is as sharp or sharper then their fresh blade Razor Knives

Both you and Kevin have pushed me over the Opi Edge, I'll have to pick one up the next time I come across one ;)

It just made a lot of sense for me Paul, there were too many things the razor knife just couldn't tackle well, like 1"1/2" closed cell insulation, with the Opi one clean pass, same with other materials. For a while I carried both but the last time I lost a razor knife I said that was it, I can't tell you how many times I would be asked to borrow my knife.

So hopefully I will go fishing later, all the Opi talk I put my non job site #9 in My back pocket.

Ditto. I've not had good luck when I've tried it. But I'm a klutz. I have some ideas I'd like to pursue but need to understand how to do the blade swap better.

Was sitting in the back yard the other day on a tedious, soul-sucking conference call and was whittling mindless with my Opinel #8. For grins, I thought I'd try to just cut straight through the stick. "Wisp". Clean as whistle and easier than anything.

So, I went inside (the power of headsets) and got some other knives. All, well, most of them sharp. None of them could keep up. The hollow grinds were the worst. Really truly something about the Opinel blade and wood. It's really startling to me.

Today's carry. Drop point #9.
