What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

First day carrying my 81. This is also my first ever muskrat pattern and I feel like an idiot for sleeping on these for years.

I always thought they looked nice but personally didn't gravitate towards the pattern for use. But I had the opportunity to get one of these and figured I'd try it out and assumed it would be one of my few "just for the collection" pieces.

Well, once I got it out, opened the blade, and held it in my hand I "got it" and knew this was going to be a user. This knife has a certain feel that not all knives have, and you can feel it immediately.... it feels like a finely tuned precision cutting instrument!

Don't get me wrong, I also love tougher, hard-user knives as well, but there is just some hard-to-define wonderful feeling of a knife like this. It just feels so agile and nimble, balanced and surgically precise. Also that Elderberry jigged bone is gorgeous.

I need to get some of you guys to show me how to tie a fancy lanyard ............ mine are pretty weak in comparison. :(

I am constantly amazed by your photos and older knives in your collection. Just excellent. Your skills are impressive sir.

Thank you Paul. That is a nice compliment and appreciated.😊

I think you should have said your favorite Woodie for Wednesday ! 😲😊🤣 That's a beauty !

I keep looking at those and like them. I know what you are saying ..... because I have an old Case Muskrat and a Robeson that make me think the same way.😍

I just followed this guy's tutorial. Hope this helps!

You did a great job polishing that micarta up, and it still looks as good as the day you did it. How did do that, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks sir!

I started sanding from 600/1000/1200/1500/2000
Maybe overkill, but it was cathartic.

Then finished and buffed with Flitz.

Every once in awhile I will hit it again with flitz and it will stay relatively good to go. Not as good as the original buff job, but close enough.

Thank you so much! It looks killer, every time you post it I think of doing that to one of mine.
