Then the mail showed up, and now, due to the wild generosity of @Jack Black I unexpectedly but quite delightedly have this in my pocket:

Update for Modoc ED Modoc ED on Lacey: the tumor on her gum is malignant, but not the kind that metastasizes, so removing it will probably be enough (doc said it's in a "favorable location", although I'd suggest in not being in my dog at all would be even more favorable). She's getting part of her lower jaw removed tomorrow morning, which they are telling us is pretty straightforward and goes really well for dogs. Prayers, vibes, smoke, and good thoughts for Lacey are all appreciated.

Best wishes for your pup, Tyson. Most dogs adapt to things like that much better than humans.

Thanks. That's what the vet said, and what we're seeing, researching it online.

No reconstruction - they say the dogs do fine without it, so no need to do that extra intervention. We told them that carrying around a tennis ball is her favorite thing, and they said she'd be back at it very soon. They're actually predicting a shorter recovery time than she had for her leg surgery last year.

Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright I hope all goes well for the pup and love the HHB
Thank you.
