What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Running errands today with the dynamic Swiss duo.

GT - That makes perfect sense to me ! Today was a good day to eat pie and you ate silk pie.
Happy Pi day ! ;) :p

P.S. …… I wonder if they used condensed milk in yer Pi ? 🤔
Thanks, Rob. :) Whatever ingredients were in the pie certainly agreed with me!🤓

Fascinating stuff Gary, sounds like you celebrated in style! :D I'm glad you got some pie :)
Thanks, Jack. :) I was pleasantly surprised to see pies still available after I returned from class!🤓

Very cool GT. That lamb is amazing.
Lovely Horn on your Lamb !
Great horn on your lamb Gary, and the Rough Rider seems very pocket friendly.
Thanks for the kind words, Paul & Steve & Bob. :) When I first joined BF, I was stunned by a photo Jack Black posted of a horn handled knife that seemed to have some kind of inner glow radiating from inside it. When I got my first Guardian knife, I was absolutely thrilled to see that it had a similar (if not quite as striking) sort of luminescence!:thumbsup::cool:
The photo I posted was taken when the knife was quite new, and I have to confess that I'm not a Guardian of distinction, since I dropped the knife onto a stone patio during a photo session and dinged up the horn on the butt end. I was also carrying a bunch of my lambsfoot knives in my backpack for a number of months (to take advantage of unexpected photo opportunities ;)), and didn't have them wrapped carefully. I took them out last Easter, I think, for a seasonal photo, and discovered that the spine of another lambsfoot had been in contact with the horn of the one I recently posted, and jostling around in the backpack had resulted in the spine of one knife scuffing the horn of the other. :(:eek:

Carried the Schatt spear and Case whittler yesterday and again today until after lunch. While oiling up some knives this afternoon I came to this 86 bloodwood and it reminded me
that I had told myself last time I had in the pocket that I needed to start carrying it more often. So into the pocket it went.

Tyler-
Love this stag stockman with the tulip shield. I’ve seen them before but can’t remember the maker. Who made this one?
Sorry buddy, I just seen this. It's a 2022 Winchester, made by Blue Grass Cutlery. I've been told their F&F was on par with GEC, but this one definitely wasn't. It's the only one I can speak on, but the snap on the blades is a little weak. There's a pretty big gap between a backspring and liner, but that doesn't bother me. Was bothered me is the shield. They pin their shields too, and the circle where the pin is soddered to the shield shows up right in the middle of the tulip bulb. I do really like the stag though. Sorry it took so long for me to to reply.

h, there we go! I love seeing those two wonderful-looking knives together JJ, hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day :)
Thank you very kindly, Jack!!! :)
I really enjoyed seeing the Saint Patrick's Day parade here :) Great pics everyone  Have a great weekend

A pair of sweet aces for your Saturday slicing needs, also just a lot of fun to look at too!;)👍👍

Well, the new one below did not ride in my pocket, but it did ride in my truck yesterday and rode home with me today, never far from hand.

I went to the Texas Blade Show in Fort Worth for the last two days, the first knife show I ever attended. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I met some wonderful knife makers, some well known, some rising stars, some nice collectors, and some nice vendors.

As I have been for awhile now, I carried my Case Bose Bullnose and a Hinderer. While I own quite a few, those two are my usual go to choices. The Case Bose Bullnose has really become something special to me.

That is a long lead in to bumping into the real Tony Bose version of the Bullnose. The vendor let me hold it, work the blades, and really handle it. I have to thank Gus Sharp here for being my sounding board. As it was the carbon copy of my beloved Bullnose, it really spoke to me.

Realizing this likely was a once in a lifetime opportunity in my hand, I bit the bullet and did it. I am going to thin out the safe over the next few weeks to make up the dent in the bank account, but these two will be staying with me to my end days.

Couple of cool ones there Paul
Sitting here reading and looking at Jack's great thread on the Sheffield Cutlery industry. This is going to take some time to appreciate.View attachment 2121229
Thanks Bob, I hope you enjoy that thread :) The old threads haven't been well cared for unfortunately, but there are some good ones worth seeking out  Is that an Alpin? Looks like a great knife
Great pic
Had corned beef and cabbage but didn't take a pic. Did however take a pic of our Irish soda bread. Made a little sweeter than the standard recipe, Oh My!

You're living well my friend :) Buttermilk is hard to get hold of here for some reason, but I used to make soda bread using cream of tartare as a substitute. It actually works really well, but I lost my recipe in a move some years ago :(
Thanks, Jack. :) I was pleasantly surprised to see pies still available after I returned from class!🤓
You're lucky you weren't in Yorkshire mate! 🤣 ;)

Good day Jack, indeed it is an Alpin. You are perfecting the pairing today. Very nice Brisa.

Many times I will find an interesting thread, but the pictures are omitted. The reading is still interesting though.

Thank you my friend, it's a real shame about the missing images, it's one of the reasons I don't really bother with posting longer threads anymore. Sadly, they are not worth the effort, when the next forum software change displaces the images, and scrambles the text :(
