What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Spring seems to be here...off to get mulch. I'm liking the size of this new to me Schrade.View attachment 2139823
Great pair Bob. Crazy to think what Schrade has become. Their older stuff is so nice.
Interesting to hear about your film career John, some outstanding pics there

  🤣

I heard a Radio 4 interview with the actor who played Oliver in the musical. The interviewer said, "It must have been such a pleasure to work with Oliver Reed." He said that hadn't been the case at all, as he was 'in character' as Bill Sykes, being surly and unpleasant on set, and would growl at the child actors, and cuff them round the ear, if they got in his way! 🤣

Fantastic pics Dan, I have been enjoying all the talk of Gaucho knives your new acquisition has inspired :)

A stunning pair :)

Thank you very much my friend, I was listening to some new Bill Evans CDs I was gifted for my birthday :)

An outstanding pairing JJ, they go together perfectly :)

Wishing everyone a great week :) Starting mine with my trusty Hartshead Barlow, and an IXL Tyne Knife

And, I had a wonderful 44th birthday yesterday. One of my daughters tried her handiwork at a Buck 55 card for me. Definitely a highlight of my day!

I was still in my 20’s when I bought this 293Y brand new. Along with a 33Ot, it’s all I carried for years, and ir dressed out countless rabbits, squirrels, fish, and even a deer. In spite of that, it has held up much better than it’s owner.
You were not lying when you told me you love some yella delrin. Cool pair, Jeff.

Agreed.... Schrade and others have fallen victim to commercialism and not enough craftsmen.
Glad to hear about your family, especially your son. Hope the time flies by for you.

Great way to start the week Mr P :)

Thank you Mr. Jack !😊

I gotta be honest. Knowledge of Schrades is like understanding music, medicine, or wimmenz. The more ya know, the more ya know ya don’t know.🤔

It's a Sch..rade for sure. There is a lot of history related to old knives that got lost along the way, for sure !
I think they were more concerned about selling knives and not so conscious of the history. It took Case until 1970 to realize the historical benefit of a yearly marking. 😊

Schatt & a Catt for my Monday carry.

That S&M looks right at home with the Carpenters Whittler ....... both real beauties !😍😍

I try to remind myself there was a time, (probably for most of us) when we carried the same knife every day until we lost it, broke it, or wore it out.
I think there’s something to be said for that.

I used to carry the same knife every day, for years ...... then I got more and never did return to just one knife.
I broke one blade in my lifetime and never lost any, rather think a couple got lifted from me. 😊

kickin’ off the week is a 62 Courthouse Whittler with a side of Cadet …

Paul, I’m starting to feel bad for your Cadet, because you always cut it off! 😁

No lie ~love yellow delrin, Paul!
Our friend Rachel r8shell r8shell kindly gave me the 881Y to match my trapper as a gift when my son passed away. Now, I almost always tote them together. Take away all my others, and I could be happy with these.
Thank you Mr. Jack !😊

Add in all of Schrade’s cooperation with Ulster, Camillus, etc, and all of the knives they contracted for other brands, and I will never keep them straight.

I'm very pleased that you enjoy carrying it. :)

It seems like it's a good week for a Bunny Knife.

Happy belated birthday, JonMcD JonMcD , that's a lovely card! Burlap turned out nice on the new knife.
thank you sir! I do agree. I believe it brought out more of the tan of the burlap 👍🏼
Happy birthday, Jon! 🎉
That card is gold!
(44 … just a pup … 😉)
😎
A pup indeed. Many more miles to go! I think I’ll have to bring a GEC 44 back into the stable this year. I miss the cocobolo that I let go. A 44 in my 44th year has a good ring to it!
Two fine burlaps Jon. I hope you are aging as gracefully as your knives.😁🍻🎂
I think I’m quite graceful. My wife would use other terminology however!
A belated Happy Birthday to you Jon :) Love your card  :)
Thank you Mr. Jack! 12 yr olds have ways of making the heart melt!
Happy belated birthday, Jon. Very thoughtful and sweet card and great pair my friend.
Thanks Paul! It was a good day without a doubt!
