I was still in my 20’s when I bought this 293Y brand new. Along with a 33Ot, it’s all I carried for years, and ir dressed out countless rabbits, squirrels, fish, and even a deer. In spite of that, it has held up much better than it’s owner.

Agreed.... Schrade and others have fallen victim to commercialism and not enough craftsmen.

It's a Sch..rade for sure. There is a lot of history related to old knives that got lost along the way, for sure !
I think they were more concerned about selling knives and not so conscious of the history. It took Case until 1970 to realize the historical benefit of a yearly marking.

I used to carry the same knife every day, for years ...... then I got more and never did return to just one knife.
I broke one blade in my lifetime and never lost any, rather think a couple got lifted from me. :thumbsup:

I removed the offending piece of metal that thou shall not mention on a trad forum. Fitted this sheath I had for this knife. Manly Wasp, a very good modern slip joint in my opinion.

r8shell kindly gave me the 881Y to match my trapper as a gift when my son passed away. Now, I almost always tote them together. Take away all my others, and I could be happy with these.

Add in all of Schrade’s cooperation with Ulster, Camillus, etc, and all of the knives they contracted for other brands, and I will never keep them straight.

I'm gonna give the Green Canvas Micarta Bull Nose a go today along with Bunny #525 and Buck 055. Not too much on the plate today except shoveling snow. Yep, it snowed about five or six inches of snow over night. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

A pup indeed. Many more miles to go! I think I’ll have to bring a GEC 44 back into the stable this year. I miss the cocobolo that I let go. A 44 in my 44th year has a good ring to it!

I seem to remember I got it pretty cheap. Maybe from somebody with short thumbnails.
